Rest in peace Walter.
Scott, my condolences to you and your family.
Sad news indeed. My condolences to his family and friends.
I've never owned one of his trolleys but thanks to this forum I was aware of how high quality and popular they were. His posts also indicated his enthusiasm for the hobby. Walter's name will join the list of other innovators who have made this hobby great. Rest in peace Walt.
God Bless. Jim R.
R.I.P Walt. You were a good man. I'll miss you.
Thanks Allan for letting us all know. Condolences to his family.
I have 2 of his Trolleys and they are built to last a lifetime.
R.I.P. Walt You will be missed
I spoke with Walt a few times over the years. He was a real fan of the Johnstown area, and of the coal mines and rail operations that existed there. His trolleys are the best. R.I.P.

Walt,
You left us with special memories. May you rest in peace.
My condolences to Walts family. He brought to the train market over the years an excellent product of which I own 2 of.
RIP Walter Your legacy will live on forever through those awesome trolleys. I own 4 of them
Rest in peace Walt. Thanks for a great product. It was a pleasure doing business with you.
Another great loss to our hobby. Condolences to Walt's family.
I am really sorry to hear about Walt's passing. A few years back he was looking to move back east and we offered him to "farm sit" the farm my wife had back in Kentucky. A really great guy; one that I look forward to seeing one day.

Walt was a big presence on this forum years ago, he will be missed. Rest in Peace.
Scott, I'm very sorry for your loss.
My sincere condolences to Walts family. A huge loss to all of us. I have one of Walts "Johnstown" trollies. By far the best in the business, not even close. Rest in peace my friend..
Very touching to read the beautiful tributes to Walt and his beautiful models. I really enjoy the Johnstown, Los Angeles, and San Francisco versions in my collection. Will be painting another one soon in Columbus livery. What a wonderful fraternity this is. Prayers tonight for Walt, Scott, and all his family.
A good guy and producer of my magnificent trolleys--rest in peace Walt.
I too am a proud owner of one of his trolleys.. Rest in Peace Walt.

Very sad. That is sure the best trolley I have ever purchased. RIP.
Sad news to hear. I too am amongst those that remember Walt's prolific involvement in this forum many years ago; he was very proud of his product and as testament to that many have bought his trolleys. I do also remember him posting about the challenges of owning his company and his conventional trolleys competing against the growing popularity of lower-priced, command-equipped motive power from the competition, in spite of many of those other trolleys were not of the same caliber of detail and scale proportions. All that, combined with rising production costs and his ongoing health problems just simply wasn't conducive for him to continue on and end production and try to sell his remaining inventory.
He is worthy of being known to leave a mark on the O gauge hobby and for trolley fans/modellers/operators in general. He certainly will be missed; my condolences go out to his family.
Walt trolley's are some of the best in O scale. I know many of us brought them when he was selling them at a blow out deal. I picked up two of the Charlotte/New Orleans trolley's and will say they are prized possession in my collection.
He will be truly missed by all of us.
Only my sincerest condolences to Scott and the rest of Walt's family. The trolleys are fantastic. Recently I have taken an increased interest in trolleys and traction and one only has to spend very little time to figure out the scarcity of high quality, ready to run products out there. Walt took on a tough job at a tough time and I appreciate his contribution.
A few chats with Walt when he was operating Western Hobbycraft convinced me to own a few of his trolley cars. His trolley cars are the best production cars in our hobby. I pray that Walt's soul will rest in peace in God's Kingdom of Heaven forever.
Hi Scott,
Somehow I missed the chance to respond in a timely manner.
But you know how much I enjoy the wonderful Western Hobbycraft trolley cars.
My fleet now numbers 4 -- Johnstown, Chicago, Philadelphia and Charlotte/New Orleans.
Your father lives on in the many many trolleys that operate on layouts today.

I read a lot about this hobby, and try to stay current, but must admit I don't think I
had heard of these trolleys, my closest interest being gas electrics. However, None of
us want to lose anybody who has made a contribution to this hobby. And from the comments posted above, it would appear that his was significant.
