The track plan for the layout in the Johnny Cash commercial appears in the Track & Planning book issued by Lionel in the 1970s.
Attached image is from the book.
Also the commercial at the 37:09 has a second version which if I recall correctly features the James Gang set from 1980.
what's the name of the Lionel Track Book containing the Layout from the Johnny Cash commercial?
Thanks,
Phil
Some of those commercials brought back some memories!
When I was working at a radio station in 1988 or 89, Lionel had a radio commercial they used on either Westwood One Network or United Stations Network shows. These were syndicated programs normally played on the weekend to fill up air space. The commercials were cool, but kind of sedate for radio spots at the time. You didn't hear the name "Lionel" until the end of the commercial. I am not aware of a television commercial to compliment these. Cash must have been low.
Thanks for posting! Lots of memories there. I watched it all, yes bitter sweet for me. I started working for Eastman Kodak in 82. Still very sad how a company missed the digital age so badly.

Wonder what steam engine puffing smoke and highballing was in the beginning of that VISA commercial at the 3:08 mark.
Also noticed at the 5:13 mark Johny recommended the "big" lionel for boys under 10 yrs old and for older kids the new HO line by Lionel.
The layout from the TV commercial is on the last page of the tan covered Track Layout Book.
Also TCA etrain has an article regarding Johnny Cash and the commercial:
Check out this Lionel commercial from 1975... I like it the best...
Iron ponies is classic!
