Here in the South Central Valley of California, we get 6" to 8" per year. This is considered a good year. People often had cisterns on their property that used well water, and were gravity fed into their homes.

This water tower used to stand by the SP, where Seventh Standard Road meets Freeway 99 in Bakersfield, California. It had nothing to do with the railroad. I was told it had been in the middle of an old trailer park. It was torn down many years ago, but I managed to measure and draw it while it stood.

This is about a 2 hour project, maybe less if I produce kits for it. Is anyone interested?

That tower is similar to Bullt-Rite Models kit #410B, that I just completed.  Another,

higher wooden tower is the American Model Builders, Inc. kit #472 that I am detailing

now.  A third, that I will use as a ground reservoir for the first, is Mile Post Model Works kit #8441, which has a cast urethane tank.  There are a couple of building

top tank kits available from the kitbuilder affiliated with OGR. It is not that we don't

need O scale structure kits, such as a small one-chute wooden coaling tower, for a branch or short line, there seem to be several "industrial" water tower kits available

already.

Might want to think about what anybody might expect to find in the box - every little detail - if you're really going to contemplate producing a kit and then costing that out buying what you need right down to the cost of the cost and label.

It's an interesting and educational experience.
