I remember going to a toy/ hobby store in Wayne, NJ back in the 1959-1961 era.
it was somewhere near where the Willowbrook Mall is now. I remember the name to be something like Digby's.
My dad would go there to buy me some Lionel cars after Christmas when stuff was on sale.
Does anyone remember that store? I'd like more info about it.

I don't remember that store, but I do remember going to the Two Guys store on Route 46 (just east of what is now Willowbrook).
They had a pretty extensive model trains department year round and it really expanded for Christmas.
I loved going to Two Guys.

I remember the train shop on rt 23n in wyne NJ in the 1990's that moved to Butler up the road n4 the owner died and the shop closed.
I'm from the area mentioned, but the time frame is a bit before me. In the early 1970s there was a hobby store in Willowbrook, on the second floor, near what is now Bloomingdales.
There was also a very unique place called Richies Hobby Town in Pine Brook NJ, the building itself was an old church. Where you first walked in on the ground level was a museum, recall it was the the first place I ever saw LGB trains.
Maybe some one out there has a 1960 listing of Lionel dealers or service stations ?
There is a train show coming up this month in Wayne NJ. I bet some folks at the show would know.
Rich - I believe the store you're referring to is Tony's Train Town on Pompton Rd in Cedar Grove , NJ - I think it is still there - I stopped there a few years ago and had a great shopping experience.

It was located on Rt 46, not Rt 23.
The construction of the Willowbrook Mall totally removed the building and changed the immediate area. I don't know if they were the last tenants or not.
