I just bought my first Williams engine, a southern 4-6-0. I powered it up, and it smoked like a bandit, but only for a few minutes. Then it ran out of smoke. So I refilled it and the same happened again. I filled it one more time and let it soak in, but it didn't help. Also, I touched the smokestack and it was super hot. Is this normal? Is their anything wrong?

I have a WBB J engine and it was the same, all it did was burn through smoke fluid and spit all over the front of the engine. It would smoke a bit, but the mess was not worth it.

Like you said, it got hot and there was no off switch, so I opened the shell and unplugged it.

THey really need to come up with a better design.
