As we all know, Lionel is saying they will be shipping these to their direct dealers and distributors no later than Monday the 18th. We are anxiously awaiting them. In counting up our pre-orders and the "extras" we ordered we have a few 4014s left and one each of 4006 and 4018..... If we  can help you with one - that would be terrific! Our price, with free shipping, is $1989.96.

Thanks!

Thanks, PE3! I will put you down for one.

I am am an eastern road guy, but after seeing Mike Reagen's video, I am keeping one! I already ordered freight cars for it, and a cabeese.

Thanks Steve!

I believe MTH shipped everything but the NKP - they were planning to cancel it and then reconsidered - so it was delayed.... I will call and check on Monday - we have a lot of them coming for all of the NKP fans.....

I think we are all in the same boat. Likely 4 days to the east coast from CA, then they have to be distributed from there, then the retailer gets his to ship. We will see. I've got nearly 100 Monon F3s and passenger cars to ship this week - it will be crazy!

Ouch!  While I understand the desire to have these for Christmas morning, why hurt your local dealer because of a few days of delay?  Obviously it's your choice but so many folks complain about the LHS closing it seems it's worth a few days of delay to have them survive.

I too ordered locally here in Pittsburgh and am hoping for a call before Christmas but am fine if it misses by a few days.

Thanks for the sage advice MartyE. That being said, I patronize my local dealer a lot, and all year long. So for me, it's more of a priority to get one for my son on Christmas morning if I can.

Can anyone recommend perhaps a California dealer to contact who is close to the distribution point and might get one a few days earlier to be able to FedEx to me in time? Thanks for any help you can get.

It'll cost more but have you thought about asking your LHS request overnight delivery from their distributer? They'll deliver on Christmas day if you pony up to the price..

I was at a local, small USPS office yesterday to ship a few small items out via Priority Mail... and the clerk could hardly walk among all the packages that were dropped off there yesterday!    Have never seen it that crazy.

David

Sorry if I have offended you.  You have to do what ya gotta do.

Unfortunately unless you order from one of the direct dealers I suspect all others have to go to the distribution centers first before going to any dealer that doesn't directly buy from Lionel.  I don't know of any West Coast Direct Dealers.  Perhaps someone else here.

But if you even buy from an east coast dealer they should be able to get it to you by the 24th if the time line holds.

Good Luck!

....

If the shipping companies will be pushed beyond their absolute limit, this could likely be the year it happens.  What I personally saw yesterday at the post office... and what I experienced at a big UPS depot/hub about a week ago when I picked up a package I had held-for-pickup was unreal.  Imagine being in Manhattan during rush hour... and all the cars being brown UPS trucks and big 18-wheelers.  That's what the local UPS hub felt like around 8PM that evening.    Had to be there to believe it.

You're in for a treat!  It'll be fantastic and I haven't even got to see mine yet!

I have the Vision Line Challengers and they are without equal.  Should be interesting to see the advances in technology over the last few years compared to the VL BB.

I can't wait either, starting to get really excited!

Yes it will be sweet. I am just getting back into the hobby and had to have the big boy. I guess I should order a legacy system. I am putting the cart before the horse here. The one I ordered is special since the real 4012 is 15 minutes from my house. I guess I need to make a decent order to mega steam since the big boy has all those smoke units.

Ok, I might be a stale Muffin, but I had our Big Boys held up at the distributors for a couple of days. I know from my big box retail experience that shipping right now with all this volume and temporary workers can be dangerous, so ours will arrive first on next week.

I still have some extras, particularly 4014's, so call us or visit our website to get yours.

All the best, and thanks for the support. When we started this to support our layout a year ago I had no idea that we would move so many trains. It's been crazy!
