OK Scott , We've got the E-7's, FL-9s are on the way, rumor is that FP-7's are in the queue. Isn't it time that we get FT's. 23 Class 1 railroads had them, the 1096 units exceed the combined production of the E-7's, FL-9's, FP-7's and FP-9's. Plus it had two different B units. The short B unit was really different. Considered one of the most important locomotives ever produced it was the diesel that started the end of steam. I'll take a set or two in O&W and maybe one in demonstrator if it was made. Gotta love that chocolate and yellow color scheme. We need to hear from everyone who wants an FT.

Cotton Belt had then.
I would definitely order any FTs produced in Lackawanna, Erie, or Erie Lackawanna. Of course the Lackawanna units would need the short B-units.
One A-B set in O&W and one A-B set in Lackawanna (preferably the freight scheme)...ideally, not in the same, bank busting run, but I would be glad just to get them....

Seaboard had a dozen sets of the permanently coupled FTAs and FTBs.
While I'd like anything Seaboard, I'd prefer a single F-3A in Seaboard paint.
I have a FT set in HO (Stewart Hobbies???) and liked them fine so maybe a set in O-scale wouldn't be so bad after all.
Cotton Belt had then.
Yes!
Cotton Belt in the original yellow/grey and the Cotton Belt black widow versions would be great!
Missouri Pacific had them too.
Santa Fe in the freight colors would be a must get too!

I'd be in for an A-B-B-A set of NP and GN, but only if they come with two rail front pilots, Kadee mounting pads, and shims if necessary, with hirail flanges. Ya know, in 3RS configuration. For the money I'd be laying out for these, I want to leave my tap drill, tap, and styrene in the tool box.
Oh, and give me the option to get them all powered too. I purchased on Atlas NP F3s with two powered As, and two dummy Bs. I wish I had at least one of the B units powered, and I keep an eye out for a powered B unit that isn't going to bust my budget that I can swap my NP B unit shell on to.

Scott ought to take a look at what Atlas does before he ventures into another cab unit.

I can't see them tooling up an FT set before 3rd Rail could...Atlas seems to be perpetually backed up now...the existing tooling Atlas has is for F2-F3-F5-F7-F9. No FT, no FP7 and no FP9.

The EMD FT model is a real chore for for any O Scale model manufacturer, especially to produce and sell at a price that 3-Rail and 3RS modelers would be willing to pay for. As mentioned above, Atlas will NO WAY produce an FT for a number of reasons:
1) All the tooling that Atlas purchased from P&D Hobby was for production of F2 through F9 models!
2) Since the FT truck spacing and underframe configuration is different from F2 through F9, and obviously FP7/9 or FL9, none of the "F unit tooling" could be used for an FT model. This was told to me directly by the late Jim Weaver!
3) Contrary to popular belief, the trucks under FTs ARE different, when compared to trucks under late F3s thru F9s, especially in the area of the main frame over the elliptical springs. The journal boxes are also quite different.

Using this logic 3rd rail would never have decided to produce the FL9 which is very different from any other f unit, especially with the 6 wheel flexicoil truck which almost unique to this unit, the extended carbody and additional one off detailing required for third rail electric operation of this loco. Add to that that only 60 were made for the NH and only 4-5 railroads had them over their lifespan and they operated only in electrified territory and the FL-9 is a limited market compared to the FT. The FT would be a comparable build and development expense with much more sales potential. Even though Lionel and MTH have produced these a 3rd rail model would far exceed these in accuracy, detailing and running characteristics. The E-7's have been produced in 3 rail before and those models pale in comparison to the new 3rd rail model. the potential sales for the FT's would be substantial. Now 3rd rail just needs to make a ton of money on the FL-9's so they can place FT's next in line.
I dug out the HO DVP Ajin 4 unit A/B/B/B set for photos. 1 of 4 sets made in the laser etched wood box. Love those Whiskers...
I have a set of MTH's in ATSF freight, though I understand they have inaccuracies I really like them. But if Sunset made an FT in ATSF, or one of the other Oklahoma RR's (not sure off hand which had them) I would be sorely tempted.
If I had my wish, I would wish for Sunset to do the early E units, ATSF E1's or even an accurate E6! I am guessing those are even less likely than the FT's.
