We had a weathering clinic with Mr. Dave Schroedle at our Michiana Division NMRA Conference at Notre Dame this weekend and this was my project for the day. I haven't weathered that many cars yet, but I thought this one turned out especially nice.

I used Pan Pastels for most of the grime and dirt. Artists oil paints for the rust patches, and watercolor pencils for some of the seam detail.  Anyway, I  just thought I'd share a few pics. of my results.

I always try to use photos of real cars when weathering. It puts all the gunk and grime where it actually happens, and not where we "think" it should go.

Here are some of the images I used as reference along with my model:

I don't usually try to "match" the photo, but rather look and see where certain kinds of effects occur.
