Very nice!...what did you do for a custom drive?..........Pat
Two of your photos are saying not found, but the ones I can see are awesome
Yes - very nice! Any hints? Light overspray of weathered black? I do like the smokebox treatment.
I love UP steam power and your weathering is excellent. Matt

Thank you. I actually have custom mixed paints that I use. I studied several prototype photos of different railroads and mixed what i found to be the best blend of them. I have never used a weathered black for a hint. 😃.

Yes I did, but I know my weathering or pretty much anything anyone ever post on here about anything is up to your par. It must be great to have the best of everything and answers to questions never even asked. Regardless its a hobby and we all interpret in different ways. All the negative you post doesn’t help the forum, the hobby, and honestly its a big part of why I don’t even post much here anymore either. Use your knowledge to help people in the hobby and not turn them away with your snide remarks. Good day to you sir.
Well sorry if I hurt your feelings.
Nope not at all, my feeling are strong as titanium. Have to be running multiple business and dealing with all forms of life. The thing is, its a hobby thats suppose to give me a break from the daily grind, stress, and aggravation. I am pretty sure most use the hobby as a stress relief and dont wish to hear constant BS associated with your postings. Again use your knowledge to better this hobby, your skills and opportunities you have had in life make all of us jealous, just share it and help keep the knowledge you have alive as its fading fast with your generation. Just do so in a way that people will respect what you say and not skim over your postings. 👍🏻
Your weathering is great. There will always be some people...on this forum...and anywhere you go that act like 3rd grade school hall monitors. Matt

Huh? "UP Stem power"? I know the Union Pacific used, steam, diesel, and even turbines, but stem power? Please enlighten us!
Your model of 4004 looks great. I hauled out a couple of books with color photos of 4000s in service and your weathering looks pretty darned close to what I'm looking at. Just try to "not feed the trolls" and press on.
OK...now that we have had that little spat...lets try to find the good points about this post....

Just click on the thumbnails in the attachment at the bottom of the reply; they should enlarge.
The weathering is great! In particular I like the way your black surfaces turn out, like they were exposed to dense smoke and soot. Are your colors oil based or do you use enamels? Are you powdering a lot?
Thanks for sharing!
Looks mighty fine to me. Very nice!
Very nice weathering job. Does the engine have sound, lights, etc?

Well stated.....thank you. I have often had reservations about posting or responding to posts as I am uncomfortable that same will be greeted by criticism from one of our forum "experts on everything"......
Marty,
The unit looks fabulous and I can tell you put a lot of effort into making it seem like it put in many many hours of service. I am just starting to study weathering techniques, pics, etc. and will definitely come back to this thread before I attempt to do this on any of my steamers. Thanks for posting.
Folks, remember there are always one or two but most of us are very supportive and complimentary on this wonderful forum. I was always taught that if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. At the very least use poise and make suggestions.
Please don't take your ideas and efforts away because someone may not have anything nice to say about it. You're taking it away from the majority of us who could learn from what you have done and admire it.
