Hello,
Attached are a few quick pix of an old Weaver flatcar I recently weathered. Deck was painted various shades of gray/brown, then washes were applied to the entire car, then graffiti decals. I also applied chalk to the deck along with drops of diluted paint to represent oil spills, etc.

The wooden deck is an add-on to the Weaver Flat. There was a secondary supplier for the deck.
Awesome work! The only thing I might have done differently is to ditch the graffiti. The graffiti artists typically look for larger flat areas for their work like the sides of boxcars, auto carriers and the like.

True, but here in CSX and NS land I've seen flat cars tagged in patches like this one as well as a few coated one end to the other. It's a shame all that energetically criminal (and let's face it expensive) activity can't be put to a better use.
That said , I really like the finish job on this model, as much for the car deck as the sides.
