I have 2 sets of 3 rail trucks but meed to know what other parts to complete.

E8 truck pictures. Original wiring with QSI board.

Ready-to-go trucks with electro-couplers added. Red wire is center rail pick-up roller, and the black wire is attached to the truck frame, outside rail(s) pick-up.  Electro-coupler modular jack will plug-in to the drive board.

Final assembly, Frank Timko replacement motors with flywheels are added to the original Weaver trucks.

Motors installed two wires are added from the drive board to the motor terminals, Light blue and yellow. Green Printed Circuit (PC) board is the optical sensor for the EOB (Engineer On Board) speed control.

My three rail trucks don't have wipers.  Do your three rail trucks have wipers? You noted in the original post that the trucks were three rail, which to me, indicated the Weaver three rail trucks I pictured.

The other concern is that three rail trucks have solid wheel axle connections. Both outside rails are the same common connection.  Common connection is the black wire hooked to the truck frame pictured above. Center rail pick-up is insulated through to the third rail roller, the red wire.  No need for wipers.

Two rail trucks  have insulated wheel sets that separate left wheel from right wheel, part of the two rail electric pick-up feature, which requires the electrical wipers.

Hi,

I just acquired a new/old stock set of Weaver SP E-8 AA's but the fuel tanks came off in the box after 20 plus years.  Four little rings of either plastic or glue pushed up and fell off.  There are four holes that the fuel tank tabs push into the frame.  How did you remount your fuel tanks?  Superglue didn't work.  I am thinking maybe either hot gluing them or using Superglue gel.  Please let me know how you remounted your fuel tanks.

Thanks,  Chas

Fuel tank mounting.  Part of my E8 upgrade was installation of a speaker in the fuel tank.  I drilled holes in the fuel tank for the speaker/sound, and used silicone adhesive to mount the speaker.    Note the holes/ and screws/nuts, I used to mount the fuel tank either side of the cylindrical weight, which was moved to accommodate the new electronics.  Second picture.  Look closely, you can see the other (2) /rear fuel tank mounting bolts, (4) bolts total),  near the electronics board mounting to the frame.

You may be able to attach the fuel tank with self tapping screws.

Note the mounting holes drilled in the fuel tank flange, lower left in the above picture.
