Weaver 3-Rail Trucks

You should try Northwest Short Line wheel set. They offer an excellent Hi-Rail 33" dia. freight car wheel set (four pair of wheels in a pack). The down side is, the Northwest Short Line axle end bearings may NOT exactly match the Weaver truck side frames.

For 2 rail you probably want to go with a 145 tread and the Northwest # 8287-4 should work (33" wheel).  I'm not sure but I think that the Atlas 2 rail wheels should also work (easy to find and check at your LHS).

I have been using Weaver P712 3-Rail Die-Cast Bettendorf Freight Trucks for a while and have not completed a lot of my coal cars to 3RS yet.  Is it the P712 set that Weaver will not continue to stock or offer?

KD, Thanks much for that information. I see you are from Michigan and this may be a dumb question but... which hobby shop?  My past purchases have been from P&D.

dkdkrd : I know many of us have been waiting for the Weaver P713 trucks and yes I did see that Weaver has them in stock and my order is in.

Hot Water / Allen : Thank you for the Nothwest Short Line info, I will check with them. I only need enough 2 rail scale wheel sets to change over 3 sets of 3 rail trucks. Hopefully they have some in stock.

DTI-craig : I'm sure Weaver will continue to stock their O scale trucks. Weaver's reply to me when I inquired about 33" wheel sets only "Sorry, we no longer have the 33" wheel sets."

I use the intermountain wheel set for my weaver truck, but the truck is wider than the wheel set, so I made a new bushings in brass.

Okay KD, I will stop in some time to visit Rider's in Flint. About 10-12 years ago we had a Rider's Hobby by Lakeside Mall but that is now closed. Enjoyed stopping in on my way home from work on a regular basis, but is gone now. P&D has been a good O gauge stop for myself as well.
