Weaver diecast sprung trucks......well..this is a good new, bad new story.  but should be good news in the long run...

Atlas's issue of the former weaver B&O wagon top box cars, uses a low bolster truck, which is what is needed for Weaver cars. Atlas, MTH, and Lionel all use high bolster trucks, which will not work on Weaver cars.   The problem, is that the bolster on the Atlas trucks is TOO low, and in order to get it to fit correctly, you need 2 #3 washers between the truck and the car.  SO..this is no problem, washers are readily available.  The other problem is that the Atlas truck mounts with flanged head screw, the head of which centers the truck on the bolster.  The Atlas screws are only 1/4" long tho...they will work on the Weaver wood reefers, H30's, ....but the other cars need a longer screw for mounting...At least 1/2".   There are lots of machine screw companies out there, but matching the screw size, or being close enough for it to work properly, is going to be time consuming for me. Lots of trial and error.

The good news is that these trucks have the trainline air hose, and are the new "thumbtackless" design. This has not been available for Weaver cars before.

It seems like this will all work out in the long run...only other issue is that Atlas has made this design in Bettendorf trucks only.  Theres a big demand for Rollerbearing trucks for Weaver cars.

Lionel has made diecast sprung  Bettendorf and Rollerbearing trucks that fit weaver cars with no washers needed.  They fit exactly...but getting trucks from Lionel so far has been next to impossible.  One report I got is that will only sell parts direct retail.    I guess I'll keep trying.

In the meantime, the Atlas trucks are due to get here in January.  They will be 25.95/pair, with all the necessary hardware to mount to a weaver car.   I'll put them up for pre-order on the website as soon as I have the hardware issue resolved.

Otherwise....A few nice Lionel scale cars have arrived....40' plug door reefers in BAR (orange with the large BAR) , GBW, SF, and Reading.  I think this is the 1st time someone has made a scale size Reading reefer.   Also the Sinclair and Deep rock 8000 gallon tank cars.   Also have some of the S--4's left.  They are really nice.

Thanks,

beth
