Do we know for sure who got the molds for any of the Weaver hoppers, did Atlas get them all?

They had some very nice 14-panel and offset side open hoppers that were owned by a number of RRs, Seaboard included.

I have 2 of their 2-bay covered hoppers, but I need some 3-bay14-panel, open hoppers for hauling sand.  If Atlas got them I'll email them requesting they do some for SAL.

Thanks guys!

The 3-Bay Ribbed Hoppers on page 4 and the 3-Bay Offset Hoppers on page 5 were both made in the USA, so LIONEL (not Atlas) will hopefully be offering them soon.  I'll email LIONEL to see if they will do them in SAL paint.

Does a LIONEL rep visit the forum anymore?

The Woodchip Hoppers don't have the USA logo next to them so I suspect Atlas didn't get them?

Rob Psiani is no longer with Atlas, who was our rep on this site last year. I emailed him photos of Family Lines 4750s last year. I called Atlas this week & was told this as I wanted to ask him something which it's been over 5 minutes ago,so I have no idea what it was anymore.

So do we have "eyes & ears" here anymore? I was forwarded to a man who's 1st name was "Bill," is all I know for sure. Sure wish Atlas would do some of those hoppers as well as others & rerun long out of stock cars.

Funny, Rob was working the show in the Atlas booth yesterday, and rode in with me this morning.

Somebody has bad information.

We did not get the tooling for the Weaver hopper cars.  When we inquired about some of the other tooling that was not initially offered to us, it was already committed elsewhere.  I do not know where, though.

Thanks Paul I corrected my post above.

You guys at Atlas could always come up with your own hoppers

Hoppers carried more than just coal, a number of southern RRs used them to haul sand, clay, phosphate, gravel, and I'm sure a host of other commodities.  WoodChip cars are also in short supply.

We have a number of hoppers in O already.  We did one of our HO hoppers for Woodchip service, would you like to see it in O?

Lionel did get the USA tooling, including hoppers, except the H30. Don't expect any former Weaver products from Lionel until sometime in 2017. One of our club car committee members spoke to Mike Reagan regarding a project for a family member's brewery that Weaver had already produced a mock-up for, as well as our own club car program. Mike said nothing until at least then.

Hi Laz,

No, it's a newer micro brewery in the mid west, Bad Tom Smith's, in Ohio. Paul Fischer, who is a member here, was a Weaver dealer and a good friend of Joe Hayter, and a fellow club car committee member from another forum we both belong to. We offered a different car each year since 2007, until Joe decided to retire. As I mentioned, Paul had a wood side reefer mock-up made, and production was set to begin, but we all know the rest of the story.

Lionel plans on producing the car, and continuing with our club car program after completing mold inspection, and parts and equipment inventory. I had also posted in a previous thread that Joe told me Lionel decided to pursue another printing process other then the pad printing done by Weaver. It's kind of ironic, as Weaver pad printed projects for Lionel in the past.

INDEED!!!

While you're at it, here's 2 SAL Wood Chip Hoopers that would be nice to have too:

SAL 36073

SAL WOODCHIP HOPPER 36117

SAL wood chip hopper 36408

I thought I read that those holes in the upper addition are for shaker arms/poles that shake the car to help get all the chips out.

Paul,

First let me congratulate you on the prototypical lettering scheme & correct paint on your Seaboard System 3510 covered hopper. That'd look great on a 4750 with different car #s of course.

We in the modern end of O scale, meaning the 80s to the present, would like to see 3281 cvd hoppers as 1 model of interest. We'd also like to see reruns of certain schemes such as CSX on your 4750 cvd hoppers as well as new schemes some of which I sent to Rob last year in photos.

1 thing that's never been done which is needed for tank cars as well as all modern freight cars such as the Atlas 5161 cvd hoppers, are shelf couplers, double shelf for tankers & single shelf for other freight as well as diesels. The double shelf have been required on hazardous material tankers since 1978 so why are our models lacking them? These are as much a detail as any other part of a model.

I contacted Bill last week about the throw bar with no response yet.

Thank you.

Since none of this has anything to do with Weaver hoppers (the original topic), you might be better served to start you own thread.
