Does anyone know of a location or someone that might carry any Weaver parts; if so I like to gain a cost estimate for a complete screw and bolt set for this weaver locomotive, see attached?  I have emailed P&D and several other online stores and none handle the parts, except P&D which I waiting to hear back from.  Is the rumor true that P&D is closing their doors?20220622_121654

I was rebuilding this loco with a custom paint and in the move from OKC, OK to Huntsville with the Army I lost all of the screws/bolts that fasten the trucks to the main frame and the weights to the frame.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

P&D is closing their doors.    That is not a rumor.   July 31 is last day.

However, they have said repeatedly they plan to keep selling the drive train and detail parts through a website.   Someone should get back to you eventually.

If that is a single motor drive. ALL the screws are 2-56 (SAE).    I think the truck mounts are 1/2 inch long.   I am not sure about the others.    The ones holding the weights are probably one inch long.    the body mount ones might be 3/8 inch long.    Coupler mount screws are also either 5/16 or 3/8 long.

The screws for the trucks screw directly to the truck bolster from the frame side..   I don't think there are no bolts/nuts involved.    The only bolts are on the screws that hold the gearboxes together.   There are definitely no bolts needed for the weights.     They screw directly into the frame.

My advice to install the screws very carefully using small screwdrivers and your fingers.    Start them gently, so the screw finds the original threads in the plastic.    You don't want to keep cutting new ones.    I usually turn them gently in reverse (as in remove direction counter clockwise) until I hear and/or feel a faint click when the screw thread has found the start in the plastic, then I screw them in properly.    I just make them finger tight.   I think any ind of power driver will strip out the threads.

A well stocked hardware store might have 2-56 screws.   They ae on the small end of what most stores stock.   Other hobby places like Hobby Lobby or MIchaels may have them.    Walthers also stocks various size screws with 2-56 being about the largest size.

1. That's one of the great things about these Weaver models; if you've already done anything in HO, for example, the 2-56 size is very familiar. 😊

2. Very good advice. 👍

3. Even the local Ace Hardware here carries 2-56 screws, etc. 🙂
