I recently bought aa 2 rail Pacific advertised as an MTH locomotive. It had an MTH boiler but a Weaver chassis. I posted to the 2 rail Forum and received a lot of good information. They basically said I was now the owner of a useless hunk of metal. I have a Weaver 2-8-0 that was a gift. I removed the boiler so I could see the motor and drive. It has a Mabuchi can motor with a fairly long shaft and a worm to a large gear. I think my Pacific chassis probably had the same arrangement. The worm from the 2-8-0 is not the correct worm for the Pacific. Any information on how to find the correct worm would be appreciated. I have lots of motors so that would not be a problem. This is my second post and I am glad I joined the forum.

Your Pacific even though it was sold through Weaver. Was really a K-Line model. I heard the note was due for the models and K-Line couldn’t foot the bill. Weaver basically stepped in. Bought and reboxed them. It had a small motor that was essentially mounted backwards in the chassis. That was a K-Line design. K-Line offered cruise kits for their Hudson’s and Mikados as an upgrade when that feature became a must have for many operators. I believe there’s a difference between the 2 and I’m guessing it’s in the motor. Not the board. Just a guess but one of them might fit. You do need the motor mount which wasn’t in your pics. . That may be the harder piece of the puzzle. Lionel uses K-Line’s tooling for their Legacy Mikado. Gearbox is totally different. But the motor mount may work.
I have no contact information. He’s known more in the 2 rail world. Bob Lavezzi. I was at a show a few years ago and he supposedly bought all of Weavers parts. He had quite a bit there to sell.
Hello. I posted on your other thread in the 2-rail forum. Someone, Pete I think, gave you good advice. Your best bet is to find a replacement motor with the worm already installed. Your chassis is for a Weaver 4-6-2 Pacific, but there was some speculation that the motor and worm gear used in the K-Line Pacific, K-Line Mikado, or perhaps even the K-Line Hudson might also work. You'll also need the motor mount (IIRC it was missing) because that's critical to achieving the correct mesh. Good luck in your search!
I would suggest contacting Pat Norcross who is a Forum member and goes by Harmon Shops. Pat has reworked several Weaver engines of mine ( see how slow can a Weaver go) and he still has 3 more Weaver engines at his shop to do for me. Pat removes the transmission and motor and upgrades whatever the needs are. My recent Weaver NH I-5 additionally needed new sides rods which he was able to fabricate. I think it might be a good place for you to get some information. Bill
Dave hit the nail on the head……I’m with him, it’s either gonna be the Hudson, or the Mikado motor & mount. I do have the Hudson motors & mounts in stock here at the shop. I’m not sure why you’re starting a new thread, when we touched upon this on your other thread,……Some folks said your stuck in the mud, but clearly you didn’t read all the replies. So here’s how you find out. Count the number of teeth on your worm wheel gear, and post that finding on here. I’ll count a Hudson’s worm wheel and we’ll compare notes…….if you start yet another thread, then I don’t know what to tell you, ……we’ve all tried to help you,…..
Pat
Pat, thank you for the advice. Sorry about the extra thread, a rookie mistake. I counted the teeth on the gear as you suggested. There are 22 teeth.

Zeph, I count 31 teeth on a Kline Hudson ….( my most common victim….oops I mean conversion ) ….however, this doesn’t mean the Kline Hudson’s motor & mount won’t work, what needs to be seen is the pitch, ….Hopefully, there’s a motor & mount that’ll cross over to the Pacific chassis …..I have a Kline Berkshire here too, but sadly, the motor was sold off to someone who needed it years ago,……post up a pic of your gear, clean out the grease, and zoom in clear …..we’ll see if we can clear up the mystery…….Also, when you add pictures to your reply, down in the left corner ( it’s there on my screen ) you’ll see a small box that’ll say insert body full size, or image full size, ….something like that,…..this’ll allow the viewers in TV land to view your pictures a lot easier……I don’t know if Kline used one worm gear on the motor, and multiple diameters on the worm wheel or not,…..but I’m sure we could find out, and hopefully land you a bolt on solution…..
Pat
That pitch looks like the Hudson’s pitch, but we can’t be 100% sure without some trial & error, or if one of our friends here on the forum happens to have a Kline Pacific, or a Weaver take over Pacific they could open up and let us see the motor & mount, ….If you’d like, you can send that chassis to me, and I’ll see if what I have here fits & works, …it’s a 50/50 gamble, you’d be out some postage if we get a fail,…..you can reach me via profile …..it’d be real nice if someone had one of these we could see…..I almost bought one a month or so ago, but we were too far apart for a deal,….
Pat
Thank you for your offer. I would like to send the chassis to you. Being new to this form, I am not sure the process I need to take for getting the information needed to send it to you. Any direction you can give me would be appreciated.

Zeph got lucky!!….I did have the correct motor & worm gear, but not the right motor mount, …..I was able to modify a Railking mount that had the correct pitch, but I had to mill the mount closer, and lower to get the mesh correct……actually worked out better than I planned!!….I searched high & low for the correct mount, to no avail,….so making one was the only option I could see,…..fortunately, for Zeph , this one has a happy ending!…
