I believe the plastic trucks use a 2-56 X 3/4".  Diecast trucks slightly longer 2-56 X almost 1" when applied to a hopper car .  Either way be careful not to thread the screw through the bottom/floor of the car. 

I'm actually using them to replace the trucks on some K-line ore cars and on a couple of Lionel 9019-T-5A short fish belly flat cars that had fixed truck side frames with plastic wheels that I picked up cheap at LHS.  Neither will have threaded bolster so I'll have to get some nuts to go along with the 2-56 x 3/4
