I'm watching a Weaver CNW USRA Pacific on eBay right now. It's a 2-rail model and I was thinking about making a 2-rail/3-rail Proto-2 hybrid out of it (if I win the auction.) Does the 2-rail model have the mounts for the three-rail pickup rollers (obviously without the rollers)? It would make the modifications easier as I wouldn't have to alter the 2-rail wheel pickup configuration. Also, did Weaver set these up to pick up from both sides of the locomotive/tender or did they set it up right-rail on the locomotive and left-rail on the tender?

Thanks.

Matt:

The bottom of my 2-rail Weaver Pacific has no obvious provisions for 3-rail pickups.  There are some unused holes, but they are blind and untapped.  This loco's tender picks up the left hand rail while the loco picks up the right hand rail.

BTW, this loco is just about my favorite steamer, I run it a lot.  Good puller and smooth runner (after installing a DCC decoder).  Instructions for installing a decoder can be found on my blog here: http://2railoscale.blogspot.co...decoder-install.html
