WECX 801 is the Worlds Largest Railcar

A newly manufactured railcar, WECX 801, built by Kasgro Railcar, Newcastle, Pa., is being called the “World’s Largest Railroad Car.” The 231-foot, 400-ton, 36-axle behemoth rises 18 feet above top-of-rail and has a load limit of more than 1,000 tons. It’s larger than its sister car, CEBX 800, which was built by Krupp of Germany in 1980 for ABB for U.S. service.

Attached are some excellent detailed photos of this car.  A photo of an O scale model of this car is also attached

The scratchbuilt model:

This O scale model railcar has 36 axles with a scale length of 231 feet over the couplers (with no load attached). Two identical sections have been built. The 2 sections are linked together using a drawbar when no load is attached. The O scale model is well balanced with a low center of gravity which allows it to track very well.  This O scale model is over 58 inches in length (without a load attached) making it one of the longest fully operating O scale models ever built. The model as shown is "linked" by a drawbar that connects both sections just like the prototype. With an 80 foot scale load it is over 6 feet in length!

A diagram of the 36 axle car is shown below.
