I had some fun custom painting and weathering a Lionel freight depot:

Last night I went over to Vernon Hart's layout to run trains and also see the big improvements that he has made to his wonderful layout.

He ordered one the the Albuquerque Depots from TW Design Trainworx and it fit on his layout just right.

And he has also installed the new Lionel bridge. He has one of Lionel's Milwaukee S-3's running over this bridge.

If you all are ever around Springfield, MO....come see us. We have several real nice layouts that we love to show off.

Roger....the new station on Vernon's layout looks fantastic!!  AND...I can see that he has gotten the rest of the backdrop completed.  Folks, the MA3R are fortunate to have great members and our Springfield group is our prime example of the best the hobby has to offer.  If you are not part of a club or group, please consider doing so....it really enhances the enjoyment of the hobby....any of you are welcome to contact us if you would like to be part of our group.....

Agreed, this ain't exactly a train picture, but it is a 2012 Christmas Layout memory since it involves my annual family train party that I host.  It's my 17th year of doing it.

The only reason I'm showing this is for those that have visited my house and know how really small that it is to get a chuckle.  Can you believe that all of these people somehow all fit - given that my entire living room is consumed by my train layout????

Thanks, and yes I did. I used rubber roof material and then applied automotive pin  stripe tape for the roads etc. I love the stuff. I and several others cannot get over how quiet the trains run on this material and using Atlas track for the first time. Thanks Again. Casey

The Calso station started life as an Ameri-Town flag stop station, with a scratch built canopy and Berkshire accessories. Calso was a Chevron brand in the northeast during the 40s and 50s.

On another thread there is a discussion about diecast automobiles and scale. My thoughts are go ahead and buy quality vehicles, as they look much better, especially if your layout is hi-rail. Not all quality vehicles are expensive, but the high-end manufactures offer a large number of common every day makes, not only 57 Chevys and 65 Mustangs.
Many appreciate in value as well. The USA Models1955 Imperial has doubled in value, but the Franklin Mint 1950 Nash Rambler can be found on e-bay for about half its original cost.
I am as much of a car nut as a railfan.. I have been collecting 43rd models for years and have a large collection. What better place to display some of them than on an O gauge layout.

As to scale, 1/43 is about 10% to large, but it looks OK. Just be sure to keep some space between 1/43 and 1/48 models.

Thanks Laidoff.  It doesn't look it, but it's about 25 feet from the camera to the station.  I have a long way to go.

I've just started the layout.  I took off layout time and started to build the station, which isn't quite done.  Rich has been helping me along.  I bought the station around 2004 and started building it in December.  I lost the instructions and forum member Rich Montague has helped me along.  Rich built the same station to reflect the era he models.  Thank goodness he was around, the supplier never responded to my requests for another set of instructions.

Below are the kids playing with the Christmas trains before we packed them up.

Well we packed up the track from the Christmas Mini rail display today. A little bit heavier then O gauge track!

The Christmas items are now arriving in stores (a month late) just got my Atlas Coke truck. Looks good a bit big as 1/43. Lights not that bright but looks neat.

LHS says well with all the Lionel sets coming after New year he will have stock in hand in time for the sales season next year! will not have to order anything!

I feel the same way. I have 3 Motor City models, a '59 Olds, '59 Cadillac limo, and a '56 Dodge...all bought new. They now sell on eBay for far more than I paid for them.

I love your Imperial, and I agree that the Franklin Mint Nash is one of their best.

Matt, Is this little project something you are making available? What was your prototype?

Here's the prototype storage boxcar that I copied for the O scale model.  I still don't have a layout but I enjoy building items and hopefully the winning bidder can put it to good use.
