The Pennsy's Torpedo, a fully shrouded K4, is familiar to most forum members because there were so many different models made of it. The Torpedo’s shroud was added in 1936 to modernize the Broadway Limited passenger train. During WWII, some of the shroud was removed for easier maintenance and was never reinstalled. Since I model the late 40s, that is how my Weaver model here looks.
The Pennsy had four other K4s that were streamlined to a lesser degree so they could be maintained easier. Many considered these streamlined engines to be better looking than the Torpedo. Here is my Williams streamlined K4.
Having fun running trains at the modular set up and on the home layout this week.
I continued with my PennCentral theme at the modular layout, while other roads were represented by my colleagues…..
Running on the Hudson Division this week…..a Hudson pulling a crack passenger while an Atlantic pulls a milk/mail/passenger commuter run…..
Lastly, the Buildings Unlimited warehouse/factory that I started in September, finally makes it to the layout….
Have a great and safe weekend, folks!

A few short videos of the week….
A great weekend to all!

I can't use my usual line of "A xxxx Christmas Layout memory" quite yet. I won't be taking it down until next week.
I guess I can say "This will become a 2023 Christmas Layout memory soon"
Here's a view of what eventually will become part of my 2023 Christmas Layout memory .

This weekend is off to a great start.
Peter nice work on the warehouse. O know you were fighting with those windows and doors during panting. How much longer will the modular layout be at the Great Big Greenhouse? In your videos I saw you switched from PC GPs to PC mixed FAs. How often due you switch out engines while running at all day shows like that?
Well I’ll join in on the fun since its been a while - Had a small open house for the first time in years and got to run my army train. Its all MTH premier flat with the decking, blocks and chains all done by me. The vehicles are a mix of anything and everything. Very heavy train and this is only half of the flat cars I have, plus theres troop sleepers too.
Also heres a video I have of heritage units on parade:
@M J Breen : In that 1st video, I don't know which I liked more, the train that you were featuring or the Christmas train on the 2nd level. I loved both.
3 levels! nice

A CNJ NW2 & a road slug are seen crossing the bridge over Cowan's Creek as they lead an eastbound transfer run of coal hoppers to the Lehigh Valley interchange.
Some Southern in the snow shots -
When we moved to CA from PA, I used to lament that there were no basements here for a layout. NOW, I walk out of my bedroom in the morning and see my trains…I stand in my kitchen and see my trains…I walk to my office and see my trains…I come in from outside and see my trains…I guess I don’t really have it too bad after all!!

Gorgeous trains, C. Sam.
Hey Stan - Looks like things have worked out just perfect
I understand completely - you and I are from the same “neighborhood” - I recently relocated from Holland Pa to Charleston SC - no basements down here - however new house fortunately came with an extra “bonus” train room - so now I tell my wife I’m going “up” to the basement to play 😊🚂
Getting started on new layout 👍🏼
PS - We met once at York at Angela’s table / my wife worked with your brother Sam - I’ve been to Sam’s house in Yardley and saw his layout under construction

Joe - We actually moved from Holland, PA to Washington Crossing before moving here in CA about 9 years ago! Miss those great basements!
Here are a few pics I took of my MoPac Texas Eagle and other trains while running this weekend. The Austin Tinplate Trackers setup at the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum in Austin for the premiere of Train Time at the Bullock's IMAX Theater.
This past December the Austin Tinplate Trackers celebrated our 10th year doing a Holiday Model Railroad Display in downtown Round Rock, Texas. Round Rock was a sleepy little town just north of Austin and has now been swallowed up as people move to Texas. We had roughly 13,000 people see the layout in the 3 weeks we were open.
Here are some pictures of what we ran on our evening fun runs. During the day we rent out LionChief sets to kids as a fundraiser to continue taking care of our layout and the trailers it is stored in.
Here are a few more shots from our run at Bob Bullock Texas History Museum. The Museum said they set record attendance for the weekend and our exhibit was the main draw.
