trumptrain posted:Happy New Year!! Great pics and vids so far everyone!! Here is a photo a RR bridge that is a couple blocks from my house. This bridge is decorated each Christmas season with lights and a bow. I snapped these pictures tonight at dusk. BTW - the bridge is the last surviving iron truss bridge designed by Wendal Bollman a 19th century engineer who designed many bridges for the B&O. This particular design ( in the photos ) is of the first iron truss railroad bridge in the US. This one, servings on the B&Os Patuxent Branch, carried the B&O across the Little Patuxent River in Savage, Md.
Thanks Patrick,
I recall you giving me the details about the Bollman Truss design. Since then, every time I spot one in an old photo, which is more times than one would think, I'm reminded of the one on your layout. The design suggests a truss within a suspension bridge. It's great that the preservation also included keeping the track. Every bit as historical as the Brooklyn Bridge IMO.

Nice photo Tom, stay warm!
Last night I added some passengers to my MTH Hiawatha observation cars. Here's the before and after pictures.

The roadbed is 1/8" Masonite. I don't think it does much for sound dampening. There's 3 layers of laminate flooring foam underlayment under the fleece blanket I used for ground cover.

Good point about how they ignore the train crew, but I suspect the crew would have been in more danger drinking some of the stuff on that rascal truck! LOL

What paint did you use for the Pennsy colors?
