The last steam engine built there.  And since the tender shop was being converted to build diesels ALCO farmed out the tender builds to LIMA.  The Boiler section has the ALCO builder"s Plate and the Tender has the LIMA builder's plate.  But in ALCO publicity photos the LIMA plate was brushed out!

I have taken a ton of pictures so far this York and I will have time to post most or all of them. I figured I would start with the Standard Gauge pictures(and videos) I took of the Standard Gauge Module Association, the group Scott belongs to. These are all from yesterday.

I didn't shoot any pictures of the Standard Gauge group today, but I did shoot more video.

The photographer caught an express train just outside of town, passing by a local station.  He was surprised to see a J1a, a fast freight locomotive, leading the consist.  He guessed that some new Pennsy dispatcher saw the keystone number plate, not the round one used on freight engines, and assumed it was a passenger engine.  Hopefully the RPOs did not need heat.

The J1a is Lionel TMCC upgraded with 4 chuffs/rev.  The cars are mostly GGD, with Weaver and MTH

Okay, back to yesterday's pics I took. First stop, S Gauge group. Washing & Old Dominion Club.

Now to the Purple Hall.

This big thing is a scale model that was built and I am not totally sure if it was given/donated. If curious, ask Tony at Trains N Things in the Purple Hall. It is not O Scale, I forget what Tony had told me several months ago when he had it in his store.

I just know that this thing is huge and takes up a lot of space.

What a great day!

Great pics this week, maybe one of these days I'll be able to attend the York Convention.

Don, where'd you get the chlorine cars?  When I first started as a Sanitary Engineer for the county they were still using chlorine gas at one of the sewage treatment plants.  Those big cylinders can in on trucks instead of railcars.

Scott those skyscrapers look awfully familiar.  Your construction or did someone borrow your idea?

They are mine. I took 4 of them off the layout and brought them to York. Unfortunately I didn't make these things to be moved around a lot. I may be doing a few minor repairs. A couple of the buildings got "stuck" on the layout from the adhesive  I used for my glass sidewalks. These 4 turned out to be the easiest to move.

Mel is always there 24/7/365 sitting backwards on the chair on the porch to keep an eye on things at the diner. (He usually does things backwards)... Alice has the day off. The problem on Saturdays is the competition from Saulena's across the street, and that's where you may find Alice... Is that her standing by the staircase? And then there's that guy with the sign "Eat at Joe's."

How about some more stuff? I am going to post part of Friday, I have tons of stuff I photoed and I did tell Scott I would share the shots(and video) from his Standard Gauge group. I am still tired, but lets give stuff a go. First is some very old stuff, some Fandor and I forget what someone said the other day, Marklin I think. After those is the Standard Gauge layout.

Here are some pictures from Friday morning at the Standard Gauge Layout. I got to assist in putting the Zephyr on the tracks and warn when one of the trains was coming up while we were doing that. Putting a train on the tracks is a lot easier at waist to chest level than on the floor, I do know that.

Norman builds these I was told. Well, I got to say, he is very talented, that much is certain. It was great talking to him for that little bit.

Hey look, some great big New York Central Hudson's. No Dreyfuss though.

And some videos which I have to split up because of size, UGH!!

And the last two. I won't bother popping the VL pictures here, because they are everywhere anyway. If you haven't seen those, there are a few topics that have them, plus YouTube. Enjoy the rest of Scott's Standard Gauge Group's trains running. I had a blast just watching them, and hope you do too.

One more thing that I thought was interesting was something I have never seen at York. Hand made passenger cars, for 2 rail. I don't think I have ever seen anything like this at all. These were in the Purple Hall at the Trains N Things booth. Hand made cars by Joe Fischer. I have never seen anyone make passenger cars before, and detailed interiors which my camera had a bit of an issue getting a close up, sorry about that.

I added a "B"-Reading MTH dummy to my mixed bag of Reading power. They all need to be weathered as I like the "grungy" look of working-class diesels.

Joe Fischer was quite a prolific builder of passenger cars. He had a series of articles in MR a long time ago in which he described his construction techniques. Always nice to see examples of his work, thanks for sharing!
