Night crew working late tonight in and around the Roundhouse. Dennis Brennan's Kit.
If you right click on a picture and then click "open link in new window", you will get a full scene shot that will give a lot of detail... Hope you enjoy and I appreciate you taking the time to look.
Roger, outstanding "night" photos of your roundhouse! Have a great weekend everyone!
The SW1 switcher is an MTH RailKing model that I "3-rail scaled" with fixed pilots & Kadee couplers, detailed & weathered. The 40' boxcar was an undecorated Weaver PS-1 that I upgraded with die-cast 3-rail trucks & Kadees, painted, lettered & weathered.
Well, I survived the move! We are slowly unpacking & getting things in order
The kids helped me unpack some of the trains during the week & set up some loops on the floor as I try to come up with a track plan.
Some of my recent railfan stuff -
NS Dash-9 9959 leads 26T through Duncannon, PA
Norfolk Southern's Illinois Terminal heritage SD70ACe leads 218/P99 through downtown Charlotte, NC on a sunny Fall afternoon -
The early morning silence is broken by NS 17M, heading westbound through Maybeury, WV
A new NS T4 Gevo is on the point of 272 as it ducks under the classic N&W era signals in Landgraff, WV
NS 233, led by a former ATSF SD75M passes helper set J57 at Eckman, WV
611 in the rain at Spencer, NC
I took down my HO scale setup (4x8) and going to replace with O scale. This is the start, much futher to go.

Nice Smoke effect.
Last week I posted a photo of the trackwork which I had just finished weathering at "Mifflin" interlocking on my layout. Someone noticed the Roadrailer train in the background and asked me to post photos of it. It's actually a model of Amtrak's long gone "Three Rivers" which travelled between New York and Chicago. The front end of the train contained material handling cars, then Amfleet cars, with Roadrailers bringing up the rear. We purchased a second couplermate to put on the back of the train, then my son Steven detailed them to match Amtrak practices, including railings and an ETD (non-working) on the rear unit. The couplermate at both ends of the Roadrailers is reflective of Amtrak practice. Here ya go...
Dear Forum Friends,
Today, November 11, is Veterans Day. November 11 was chosen because it was the day World War I ended. WWI was supposed to have been the war to end all wars. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
Today we remember all those who have served and are serving to protect our freedom and democracy. Having spent much of my youth overseas fighting in foreign lands, my thoughts and prayers especially go out out to those serving overseas and their families. These photos were taken on the G&O on July 4.

Here is another photo of my new ES44AC. This is the 2-rail version running on my 3-rail track with a fixed pilot, full length handrails, and scale wheels. I also moved in the trucks, filled in the gap, lowered the snow plow, painted the tips of the hoses and lightly weathered it. This will be one of the main themes of my next video (whenever that is right?).
Visit my website to see the new photo page of this engine with full size photos. Rich.
I have several cars celebrating our country's Bicentennial, some 4th of July cars, and some general patriotic cars but very few that celebrate our veterans. Hope these will do. Someday I hope to find one for the Army.

First off thanks to all veterans including my Dad and my Father-in-law for their service. We get to run toy trains in circles because of them.
Here is my newest repaint. A WbB Dash-9 loco. Started as a SP unit and did pretty much the same process I detailed in my thread on painting my way.
I needed another NS loco to go with my factory painted WbB NS SD-90. I could not find the correct NS decals so I drew them up in CorelDraw and printed them on my ALPS. They could have been done on white decal paper too if you do not have access to a ALPS.
There are a few minor things yet to finish but it will end up looking like it is. Slight weathering but very light (trucks and exhaust etc)
There is something about this very simple NS scheme. It's really striking in it's simplicity. The recent BNSF I finished is cool.....but the busier, much more complex scheme does not come off as well IMHO.
THANKS!!!!
Some amazing photos this week. A big thank you to all veterans!! The first photo is for the vets! Next up are a few real trains with model train photos coming after a visit to Trainfest this weekend in Milwaukee the lift bridge is in downtown Cleveland and is a real gem! Reminds me of the Lionel offering
THANK YOU to all you Veterans out there - Much appreciated!
Here are a couple of my HO locomotives on the Apple Valley RR Club layout in Hendersonville NC
The UP PA's are MTH and are really nice - sound just like the big ones and will creep nicely with all three units powered and with sound & SMOKE! They are quite heavy for such diminutive pieces and have a very different 'feel' from the HO trains of my youth. It's neat to hear all three units together. They even have 'Proto coupler's and all the features as their O gauge cousins. Don't know of any other HO brands offer the remote couplers?
The little Mikado is a BLI model that I bought from a lady whose husband had passed. He lettered all of his equipment for the 'Maggie Valley Southern' so I purchased a few pieces and helped her sell the rest.

I have to admit I did OK this year.... new cars are few and far between. But all of these are real winners!!!

(Birthday) Nathan's Hot Dogs
My absolutely incredible Brother Love N&W CF Caboose
All sitting on a display from GunRunnerJohn! So happy to have this! I initially was concerned about the rail height, but it is a non-issue. Man, am I glad this didn't suffer the same fate as my Glenn Snyder shelving. This has found a home on top of a bookcase.
Bruce Banner was upset about the attempt to simulate weathering on the Lionel Burlington Northern PS-1 40' boxcar by simply painting it a darker shade of green. Dr. Banner was so angry that he became the Hulk, who is a shade of green that is closer to Cascade Green.

Nice long line to get into the Allentown show this morning. Good thing I had a hearty Hamfam breakfast!
Sorry I am so late to the party.....the week was very busy.....
Since Christmas displays start in a few weeks, it is time to bring out the Christmas trains and get them running.
These are 2 of my 4 Christmas trains......I love my new LionChief Plus steamer.....the O27 passenger cars from the LCCA New Haven Alco set go with it nicely (the lettering is in red)...a few "head end" cars, and here we go!

The Trackers had a great first day the Rockville Lions Club benefit train show in Rockville, MD. (1150 Carnation Drive, Rockville, MD). We'll be running again Sunday from 12 noon - 4.
Lots of terrific layouts from all area clubs. The HO folks had a terrific city scene. The "highlight of the day" for me was, without a doubt, Tracker Clem C.'s new Standard Gauge 611, the only one in existence and made custom for him. Just spectacular as it rolled around the layout.
