Picked up one of these in a break up of the Boston & Maine Set.
Lobsta anyone?
Can the melted butter tank car be far behind?
johnstrains - I haven't seen that car until now. I love it! It's a keeper.
With Scott Mann announcing this week that the F7's are going into production with an April delivery, the Sante Fe El Capitan's crew can't wait for this new equipment to arrive.
PTC - Beautiful set of Hi Level cars!
Great photos everyone.
Here's two Korber structures i just completed. The 700 apartment and the 708 furniture store
Sorry for the bad lighting.
In the early 2000s MTH made some Sears brand rolling stock.
I wonder if Sears will make it to the end of this decade?

AAAAAAHHH Its the weekend.....
"It doesn't get any better then this'.....ENJOY!!!!
3 more photos from Tony Lash's fabulous layout. Thanks for looking.
If you right click on a picture and then click "open link in new window", you will get a full scene shot that will give a lot of detail... Hope you enjoy and I appreciate you taking the time to look.
I don't have many electrics (3 to be exact) because I was not planning on installing catenary. Several years ago I bought a couple of MTH P5a engines, one box cab and one modified, but they have not seen the light of day since I got them. I recently got a great deal on an MTH GG1; a really nice engine. I guess I'll have to install catenary on at least one loop so I can run these. Wish there was a commercially available catenary system.
It's winter in Chicago on a Wednesday night in 1992, so that means I'm in the late Richard Sherry's basement for train night with 5-6 other guys; snacking on a huge bowl of popcorn made by Rich's wife; drinking soft drinks supplied by one of us; and, Rich is repainting a PW LIONEL F3 in Monon, Rock Island, GM&O, UP or some other livery.
I casually mention I'd like to see a PW LIONEL 2531 observation car with a 2532 vista dome installed. One of the guys is a skilled machinist and he says to bring the car and a dome the following week and he'd cut the shell for the dome.
Next week, I bring the shell and dome and give them to him. And, the following week, he gives me the cut shell and dome. Pictured below is the assembled result which wasn't assembled until this past Christmas. Because the dome is old and yellowed, it's almost impossible to tell that an interior LIONEL began using in dome cars is installed in this car. One of my projects will be to light the car with LED's since the dome prevents use of the standard, floor mounted incandescent bulb (and the rear of the car is dark as a result); and, otherwise fix the light leaks around the dome, etc. (Click on the image for a larger image.)
Here's a great photo taken by my son Steven who has registered for the Forum, but has yet to post. I'm posting this on his behalf because it is such a striking photo. A pair of Lionel SD-40-2T tunnel motors leading a D&RGW GP-60 (out of view) round the curve at Mattawana. Not prototypical, but a great photo by my son!

Tell him that's a nice shot!
Put it in the books - It's done!!!
Just have a little paint touch up to do on the road tonight, but besides that, the rebuild of my CTT is done in a new record for me - 1 month!
Now I can just sit back & not change anything - just enjoy the trains w/ the kids. I learned my lesson, but this was fun to get a do-over!
Picked up another one of the 'cheap' postwar Alcos -
Lorenzo enjoying some trains while I was working on the layout -
More PA pics ( I took a ton! Still going through them)-
11/23/14 -
NS ES44AC 8001 leads eastbound 20K past ALTO tower in Altoona
NS Dash-9 9928 leads an eastbound through downtown Altoona -
Trailing was the last active ex Southern SD40-2 on NS - it was on it's way to Juniata Shops for a rebuild & chopped nose -
NS GP38-2 5650 (ex NS GP38 2929, CR/PC 7881) leading CB60 down the Cove Secondary in Altoona -
just to compare - think I got it pretty darn close -

Made some progress on my small loco maintenance/yard. Some ballast and weathering really improves the look of fastrack. I still have a long way to go with weathering and detail but I'm pleased with my "beginner" results.
Forgive me as I have posted this under scenery already, but just in case someone doesn't go there much...
Ladies and Gentlemen..... The BLUES BROTHERS!!!
In this shot the lights were not on, but they do have two slow flash blue's for effect!
Stobes on and even though they are an era later the cop cars looked ok to use.
Yes its Friday... and Its a Layout workout weekend!!!!!
I broke my one and only rule this week. No modern diesels! But this one reminded me of growing up in Plymouth Michigan. I can remember the day these showed up in town...
Thanks to another Forum member, I really enjoy running it on the layout.
And the sound is incredible for a TMCC engine...
Did anyone make a dummy that would look good with the GP30?
A 2014 Christmas Layout memory
A change of scenery:
This is what was there originally (I used this photo last week):
The waltburg sign was a gift from my nephew Dave about 10 or 12 years ago.
He combined with another nephew, Eric, and presented me with an updated version for a Christmas gift in 2014:

Thank you Michael, I'm honored.

Mikey,
I need to see more of that layout, it looks beautiful!

I'm pretty sure that Lionel, for one, has a non-powered GP-30 in Chessie colors.

Mikey, fantastic layout--thanks for posting. Get some of your 2RS forum pals to share some photos here, also--I don't get to see hardly any 2RS.

I looked but cannot find it in TMCC. I believe there is a Legacy Gp30 that is a non powered? Can you run the two together?
Love the picture, Neal.......please let your son know....

I don't know any reason why it wouldn't. They're not tethered or anything like that, so can't think of any reason why not. Don't know how old your TMCC is...is it scale? Are you maybe worried about mis-matched size?
