Some probable missed my new building just added to layout, City Jail. My thought was to make it a Historical Preservation the town had saved, and also a Tourist attraction. But, still deciding if I'll keep it on layout. Plan was to put a Preservation sign up and fence around.

Last week I posted about the coal ramp and conveyor that I set out with NERDS candy as the load so the kids had some play time.

For those of us who enjoy modeling, I thought you might enjoy these photos I took in Homer and in Cortland, New York, of what seems like typical layout buildings - one, two, and three or four stories - with a variety of facades and details.

Life is starting to return to the river valley on my layout. Highway crews have finished paving, striping, and weathering IL 52 that runs through a tunnel under the elevated Milwaukee Road line to the town of Savanna. They haven't erected the highway signs or RR crossbucks yet, but a brave teen was out on the road trying it out anyway. Maybe he had heard the rumors that the Trackside Tavern would be soon open for business? And the Savanna station will be opening soon with scheduled stops for the California Zephyr and the Santa Fe El Capitan.

The new Milwaukee Road MP-15AC is switching cars outside the Eola Yard as a Milwaukee F-3 is crossing the Mississippi bridge with a mixed manifest bound for Spencer, Iowa.

I’m a big fan of the NYO&W F units. Here is a consist in Middletown NY.

For those of of you who are wondering about the diminutive B unit......it’s really a heater car. The NYO&W, being cash-strapped, could not afford steam generators. It did convert 2 of the tenders of its 4-10-2s to steam generator cars for winter running.

When I bought my Metra E8, initially I could not find any Metra bi-levels. So what do I do? Buy some Amtrak bi-levels and my first stab at painting... car 1/4 almost done... rta paint scheme trailing 4 car Metra set (recent acquisition at Dupage Show)

Thought this looks much better with red doors than all black sides.

The one engine I wish I had a scale Yellow Belly with command control.  But to best of my knowledge no one made it.

  Would make a great companion to my M-1 and "The Chessie" passenger sets I have.

One of our club members scored a nice item at an auction this week. It is a scratch-built model of the Ashland Va Train station. River City 3 Railers participates in Ashland Train Day in November. This building is right in front of the Inn where we have been setting up. It will be on our new small modular layout this year.

My RTA/Metra project continues with painted trucks. 

I remember that RTA  and Metra stuff when I lived in the NW burbs of Chicago.  The lines I saw were always going down the left-hand main.

Gilly, how does the model compare with the station as it is today?  I see a visitor's center sign and planters and stone "patios" or walkways.  If  that is how the station looks now visitors won't even have to read the sign to recognize it.
