Just loaded my C&O Pacific to run on the layout. The staging area at the VMT is inside the layout.

My father in-law (who is retired) was bored and asked if I needed anything he could make in his wood shop for my train room. My reply was sure I need a simple box with shelves with grooves to hold extra trains. I gave him the dimensions for the space it needed to go and off he went. He comes back saying it is finished so I go to the shop to check it out. All I can say is WOW so much for a simple box I get back a piece of furniture almost hate to hide it in train room you will notice I said almost.

The pretty little Russian River town of Healdsburg will be one of the stops on the new SMART light rail transit coming late 2014.  Healdsburg’s historic Northwestern Pacific depot will be renovated for commuter use.  Built in 1873 using large redwood beams, this modest passenger station survived the 1906 earthquake.  Tourists vacationing in San Francisco, and who have allowed themselves enough time (about an hour train ride) to visit Wine Country, can sip fine local vino while listening to cool jazz coming from a new gazebo in the Healdsburg town plaza.  Move over pokey cable car, here comes SMART!

Yes, Scott - We all appreciate your starting this thread every week! Its a favorite.

This week our club set-up at a local senior center for the day and had a wonderful time with the residents. Full story and more photos on the 3 rail forum here.

1st photo shows members from left Ed, Sam, Harold, and Jerry.

You will notice that the ladies are very interested in trains as well. One told my wife that when she was a girl they all wanted trains and used to look forward to new ones from 'Santa'!

The RK Ten-Wheeler attracted a lot of attention with its heavy smoking - they all liked it!

I am getting around to working on my Elevated Trolley.  It has been something I have been very unsure of how to build.  I changed the design in mid stream.  So the side girders are drywall shims with girders I printed on my inkjet printer then cut out and attached with spray adhesive.  I am not sure if I will decorate the supports or just try and weather them.

TMACK...the printed girders look great!!  That really makes a difference!

Thanks Alex...I enjoyed your engine/roundhouse project.

Ron....MTH and 3rd Rail produced the Electroliner.  As far as which one is best...well, I will leave that up to those that own them.  I personally prefered the MTH model because of the PS-2 capabilities...AND...looking at both models, they seem to be really close as far as details go.

Keith...your Lionel orange and blue theme is coming along nicely.  The switch tower is really something...is that one of your creations?

Spring has sprung, and it's a classic story of girl meeting boy... not exactly at the crossroads.

What we are looking at are the Lionel Girls Train reissue from 1991 and the Lionel Boys Train issued in 2002.  While about 5 Boys sets exist from 1958 (?) I went with the one that was more available to me.

Nice pastel colors that are ideal for this time of year.

With number 8014, the Girls Train was following MPC practice of issuing new numbers to locomotives, even re-issues.  But with the Boys Train, under Lionel LLC management, why not bring back the number 2018?

I like ending off with cabooses.  A powder blue PRR N5c on the Girls train and mint green for the Boys.
