Finally got to run my new PRR M1a from the Lionel coal hauler set at a run session of our PIHR weekly meeting on a member's basement layout. Here are a few pix from Wednesday night:
Zombies!
Looking forward to running the M1a with all the coal hoppers at our setup next weekend.

Thanks all for the comments, (likes). Feed store is a Walther's kit. Grain elevator is a Lionel kit. Water tower is MTH with a very good paint job, IMO. Station is BTS, Orbisonia Station, an advanced kit.

Best wishes,

Latest on the "city" section of my layout. Still lots of detail work to do but its getting there!
More trees and shrubs are definatly coming!
I guess its fall/winter in the city? The other parts of the layout will have trees in full foliage.
Hmmm.... I just realized all the trains are hidden in the tunnels. Not sure why I do that. Maybe dust? Maybe cat protection? But then I remember I kinda do it when I'm working on scenery just to protect them from flying paint, plaster, and tools!
I had a little sailboat that was way too big for 1/48 scale. So I tore off the top and added decking and now it is a boat being renovated! Its just sitting in the open right now but will be placed appropriately once more scenery goes in.
Just finished a River Leaf freight depot
Please note the staircases and trim still have to be added to this model.
Happy weekend to all! Here are a few shots of an "old" Atlas gondola that was custom-decorated by the previous owner for my favorite railroad, the CNJ. I weathered it this past week and added a "muck" load made by fellow Forum member "Rail" (Don)...
Great job, Alex!!

Happy Friday!

Love this thread every week! One of my favorite things is to look at pictures or videos of layouts! Never disappointed, these look great, as always! Look forward to the day I have a layout and can post pictures! Great job guys, I envy you!!
New York monument in the Smoky Mountains!
This is a really neat replica on a small mountain road near where we live. About 8' - 10' tall. Didn't trespass to actually touch it (I might be suspected of being a 'revenuer' and risk being shot) so I don't know what material it is made of..

Thanks El Classico! That is an MTH RailKing SW1 switcher that I "3-rail scaled" last year. I fixed the pilots to the frame, removed the 3-rail "claw" couplers, filled in the large 3-rail coupler pocket openings, extended the foot boards and added some other details...and added Kadee scale couplers. Here are a few more pictures...

That's a nice set! I'm behind on the photo threads. I saw in a previous thread that you have a new addition to the family. A belated congratulations to you and your family!

Thank you
My next project.
I was delighted to find the Lionel trucks have the correct truck wheelbase. Only the Sharks had these long wheelbase (9'10") AAR Type B trucks. Most such trucks had a shorter wheelbase of 9'4". Kudos to Lionel. They came up with special tooling just for these Sharks.
FYI: The Weaver Sharks have the standard 9'4" wheelbase trucks....the diffence is not all that noticeable. The MTH Sharks, while really nice models, have 8'3" Trucks. That is about 0.40" too short, and really obvious. It looks like they are running around on a spacer saver spare tire!

I purchased the 2356 set at an auction about 5 years ago and that is what got me back into the hobby. I love the looks of that set.

Made some time in my schedule today to stop by Patrick's Trains in Wheeling, WVA. Enjoyed having a nice conversation with Pat, and picked up a nice postwar 6464-475 B&M boxcar at his shop.
Thanks Pat.
Round the bend.
The new MTH Grand Trunk Western GP9 locos and Rock Island PS-2-CD 4427 High-side hoppers from Mr. Muffin's Trains arrived this week.

Station 73-1 was dispatched for a working structure fire at 1220 PRR Lane. Upon arrival Chief 73 reported smoke showing with confirmed entrapment. Engine 73-1 was the first unit on scene and the crew began a primary search. Engine 73-2 arrived on scene shortly after and started ventilation. The entrapped citizen was rescued and thanks to the efforts of the 73 crew. And they are still waiting on the truck.....

Don't see two Trainmasters at the head end too often.
