Thanks Scott for getting us rolling!   Here are some photos from the Free State Junction Railway and a nod to this weekend's Preakness at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore!  Have a terrific weekend everyone!!  E305E399-A48C-4C46-AB19-8D679C8ABCB8

Race horses arrive on a team track near the race course.  Once loaded into the van they will make a 10 minute drive to the race course's stables.  One can almost hear tomorrow's Call To The Post!  AEF57CEA-7254-4CF7-B0FB-0B2A846770BE

Horse owners and trainers are on hand to supervise the operation.  Once upon a time race horses traveled in special horse cars at the head end of passenger trains.  Horse cars looked very similar to baggage cars but had 3 side doors instead of two.  GGD did make some horse cars at one time and those cars, when they can be found, are quite pricey .. way beyond my budget lol ... so I make do using a Western Maryland Railway baggage car.   In actuality the Pennsylvania Railroad did bring race horse to Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore using a siding off the Northern Central line to York/Harrisburg.  Although the siding didn't reach the Pimlico track itself it was located close enough so the horses took a very short truck ride to the race course.  7496476C-6027-43D2-8F8F-CE89A9C42DEF_1_201_a

I recorded a video of Amtrak 470 as it slowed for its station stop in Wallingford, Connecticut on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. The train was on its way from New Haven, CT to Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA.

The photos show the Wallingford Station, built in 1871, one year before the formation of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. A new station began operation in 2018.

Water - Plastic FLUORESCENT LIGHT PANEL

Steve - Your work is outstanding. Love the detail work on the floating bridge. I was contemplating doing the same thing for my harbor scene on my layout, but I just couldn't visualize using those panels and the results. Your pictures definitely solve that problem.

Continuing to move along on some buildings.....

Finished the Korber Apartment Building......these are "fronts" and I combined two of them to make one building......I am saving the fire escapes for later on. They are more fragile and I will wait till the building is in place on the layout.

Roof, foundation and front steps...... Then, some final weathering with an oily black oil paint and turpenoid.....The roof access is a piece from the roof of a Plasticville apartment building ( the reason why I dumpster dive at train shows)......

Next is another Korber kit......the Union Ice House.....before York, I finished the ice house portion......however, since the remaining portion, the icing platform, was going to be a complicated build, I decide to wait till I was post York and would have the time.

Now, this week:

Lots of clamps; lots of CA glue: and, lots of glue on your fingers!

......and, retirement has taught me to be patient......do something else while the glue dries.....

As an added treat this week Forum and New Jersey HighRailer member Gerry Morlitz and his lovely wife stopped in Richmond on their trek north to Spring/Summer residence in New Jersey. My wife, Alice, and i had a wonderful dinner with them and Gerry and I look forward to meeting up again in York in October. One of the great things about this Forum and the O Gauge hobby are the great people I have met and the friends I have made over the years!

Great stuff this week, Steve, your work is just getting better and better, I really love the detail and I fully appreciate the time you are putting into your new layout.  Fantastic job, thanks for sharing it with us.  Peter, your buildings are coming along very nicely, they will look great on your layout.  Nice video Melgar, I don't see any moving trains up in this area, I really miss that, however, I do get to see the TX Rail commuter line that runs between DFW Airport, with a stop in Grapevine and then it goes past the Lone Star High Railers Club in the Baggage Car where we have our layout but I sure miss seeing moving freight trains.

Great work guys, thanks for sharing and have a good weekend.

Here are a few photos of the repair and repainting of the two G gauge Norris Falls bridges on the G&O.  Everything that is outside eventually becomes a fixer upper.  This work was done during the last two weeks.  NH Joe

This is a photo of the bridges before the work.

The bridges have been removed.  The track is supported by saw horses.

Broken cross members have been repaired on this bridge.

This bridge has been repainted dark brown.  We feel that the new color will blend better with the plants, rocks, soil.
