It's time for WEEKEND PHOTO FUN!!

This past Monday I made a trip to Wheeling, W.V.. Of course if you are in the Wheeling area you have to make a stop at Patrick's Trains.

They have an amazing selection of trains and I really enjoyed my way too short visit.

Let's see your pictures.

Last week I attended the NMRA Mid-Central Regional Convention in Cincinnati. I had the pleasure of seeing Bob Bartizek's great PRR layout and Bill Bramlage's magnificent Tower City layout. Both were fantastic!

I also took a few photos of my own layout to share with friends attending the convention. In no particular order, here are a few of them. They include photos of a switching operation at Goodman's feedmill in Port Royal, a rural house at Longfellow, Mifflin Tower, the  turntable (finally weathered), and my Altoona Model Works boiler house along with the overhead steam line I built to carry steam to the roundhouse.

A 2017 Christmas Layout memory

My house (the one on the right in the 1st picture) and my sister's house that I made models of.  Part of "Waltburg".  BTW: obviously the tool shed for my house doesn't sit on top of the sun porch - I didn't have a place to set it so I just put it there since it's part of my property that I modeled.

Overall view of "waltburg" - the 2 houses above are shown here towards the back.

I was browsing through the music and videos on my smartphone looking for something patriotic for this Memorial Day weekend.

After you play this video and song, I would love to know if it aroused passionate patriotic feelings in you like it surprisingly did for me.

The song is The Eagle and The Hawk written and sung by John Denver. Of course, the star of the video is the Postwar Lionel Rocket Launcher.

It's 1953, and Engineer George Wiley has FT's 175L-175A-175B in dynamic braking, passing the Judie Oil Co. well No.3, as he slows the train in preparation for stopping at the crossovers at Mullen.  Wallace Smith has No.3, the erstwhile California Limited, but now just a maid of all work, accelerating westward toward Clovis, where brand new  E8m's 83L and 84A will be exchanged for a sturdy bobtail 300 Class rednose, more suitable for the long grades west of there.  Wallace will have time for a chicken fried steak and a helping of peach cobbler before he goes on duty to return to Caprock on No.4.

LOL! I swear this pic mimics one that was printed in Greenberg's 1980's  book; "Model Railroading A Family Guide"

The layout I am referring to is the scale" Super O" One that used early 1970's Atlas cars!

There are lots of pictures that show support for our troops and veterans, and celebrate our country.  This is great.  However, I have only found one that remembers those American men and women who died while serving in our country's armed forces.  It specifically honors those fallen heroes from Massachusetts.

I personally will not be home on Monday BBQing and drinking beer.  I will be supporting our Civil Air Patrol cadets at the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC.
