Weekend Photo Fun 5-8-20-??

Here is an image of part of the engine servicing area on my layout. The structures were built and/or installed by my friend Mark Vinski. He did a masterful job on the Atlas O roundhouse, narrowing the stall width from about 15 degrees down to about 9 degrees. This made the structure look much more realistic, and we were able to include six stalls rather than just four. He assembled the power plant and smoke stack from an Altoona Model Works kit. The ash hoist is from Crescent City Models, and Mark did additional work on this structure as well. I weathered the structures, painted the backdrop, and built the power lines.

Action on the S&Y RR

I'm fortunate to still be working during these difficult times.   (Manufacturing pet health diagnostic tests).   I've found some spare time on weekends to work on the new layout room.

Completed the ceiling.

Decided to try metal shelving units as benchwork.  Table height is 38"

2" XPS foam sitting on carpet pad. Spline supports between the shelf units, needed for strength.

Collection has been sorted and stored.   This will be a toy train style layout, FasTrack on gray carpet.  Around the walls with a center island.  Room size is 12'x23'. 

I'm still researching skirting material.  Leaning toward black weed blocking landscaping material or black cloth.

Just got these: Division Point N&W Caboose and Overland Models N&W type Cinder:

The photographer caught this passenger train, led by a K4 modernized, late in the day.  It seemed to be going faster than normal, so he thinks it was running late.

The K4 in a Lionel Legacy engine, the cars are GGD.

Took out the Lionel J3A Hudson and MTH Premier SF E8 for a spin and I finished weathering my MTH Passenger station.  Unfortunately I'm still putting my yard together but I'm getting there!  

LED’s I’ve installed in my subways. 

A little Saturday morning run with a shake-down run of a newly acquired NKP GP 9 from Mr Muffins Trains.

Love it! Did you make the newsprint rolls? There was a lot of newsprint delivered to NYC back in the day. As recently as the 1960s, NYC had 10 daily papers.
