Nothing better than a little New Haven in your day!
Anyone want to guess where I get my canisters?
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Here's a short video.....
Thanks for starting early, Scott!

What brand of bottle top are you using for canisters this time Peter?
A 2018 Christmas Layout memory
To repeat last week's comment one last time, each week I try to use a section of the layout that matches the current calendar season. For instance, this Spring I posted all images of the Easter section of the layout. In 2018 I did NOT have a summer scene or anything close to one. I had Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. So even though it's not what I prefer, I will have to just post whatever I have. Sorry.
Halloween. This is kind of an embarrassing picture since it shows the Winter scene prior to building it. But it is a good Halloween section picture I think.

Added several led lights from Evan Designs to the Woodland Scenics Ethyl's gas station (item # BR5849), where just basic plastic "light" fixtures were located. Added two yellow leds to the light poles, and two warm white leds to the gooseneck lights above the doors. Not the best of photos below, but it shows how much more this gas station is illuminated.
This building does come stock with interior led lighting and one led under the roof by the gas pumps. But the rest of the structure was too dark for my tastes.

My daughter sent this on her way to Machu Picchu: "Happy Father's Day to the person who taught me how to explore the world."
Funny, she has gone farther, traveled more than I ever have. Gotta love her!

Those Fabulous FMs:
The Jersey Central FM Trainmaster is a smokin' MTH Proto1 and the Lackawanna FM Trainmaster is a Lionel Postwar classic. Arnold

A perfect size for Lionel gondolas......just clip off the tabs with pliers.....
I'm sure many remember a regular feature in OGR Magazine in days gone by....Scrounger's Corner.....something from nothing.....
Peter
Peter, Scrounge well done, Mitch would be proud of you. On the other hand it's a little less interesting than I had imagined. I remember a long ago post where the scrounged load came from Harveys or Dry Sack and thought the gondola load may have had a similar origin.

AHHH yes!! Love those Trainmasters!! As a young kid, visiting dept. stores at Christmas with my parents the Trainmasters always brought drool to my chin LOL! Arnold your video just rekindled those memories and brought drool to my chin. THANK YOU!!!

Picked up a new 675 steamer and tender this week. Great shape, runs well, and good smoke.
Some PW action.
Well, I didn't expect to run into any BR&W engine this weekend because I was getting my oil changed. I ran into 9206 which as of next weekend will be celebrating its 70 anniversary. What a surprise running into it.
My Lionel N&W 611 got some run time in under a summer evening sky last night during the June Detroit 3 Railers meet. After all the electronic upgrades it received, it was nice to finally get it out on a bigger track than what I can set up in my apartment.
After a long hiatus, trains ran on my railroad yesterday. One mainline switch has continuity issues that raise heck getting trains in and out of yard at Woodside. The Reading Crusader would not startup, but it likely will when I reload it into DCS. Otherwise, all ran well.
We've been working on several tall buildings for the downtown area. All but one of them are incomplete... but they are starting to look good together nonetheless!
Finally did preventive repairs to my two Lionel Atlantic's.The preventive repairs if you haven't seen on the forum here is keeping the wires tight to where they should be so they don't wander into the flywheel. Granted most of them should be fine but why risk it. The main wire issue was the one on the top of the boiler seen in the fourth picture(not in my case of course, but others). I'm happy to have finally had time to get this done.
