Welcome to the weekend and Weekend Photo Fun!!! My daughter is in the Miss Teen VA Pageant this week and that leaves me and my son to do some work on his shelf layout. He wants to add on to the Wild West area on his layout..so here is our starting point.

There's only so much you can do on an 8 inch board so I had to extend the shelf and start to add a siding.

Sorry no completed projects this week only work in progress. Let's see your pictures.

Webflyer,

Thanks for sharing that picture of the compressed air loco.  I found it very fascinating.  I did not know they existed.  There are a lot of creative people in this world.  Even though that loco looks like it is at least 60-70 plus years old.

I assume any locos/carts in the mines these days are electric/hydraulic powered.

A flurry of activity on the A.T. & S.F. this past week or two has resulted in several mergers, trades, and acquisitions aimed at improving the operations on the RR. Some thinning has been going on with older equipment moving out to other roads.

New steam with this legacy Mikado that will be re lettered for the Southern was acquired with no 'out of drawer cash' from a trade. Here it joins the K4 which was purchased a few months ago from another road used.

Some new diesel power arrived as well to help round out freight and passenger operations on  the signature road in Warbonnet Colors.

First is a Lionel U28CG passenger unit

Also a MTH Premiere FT

and the 'odd-looking' C-Liner- also a Premiere MTH unit.

We've not seen these last two 'in person' before and they will certainly take some getting used too!  My wife calls the C-Liner 'the ugly duckling'.   I concur...

But then again, the Warbonnet will pretty-up almost anything!   Even a BRICK!

A few photos from 2010 of my fireworks stand for a project build on the Scenery sub-forum.  Fireworks were such a big deal to me when I was young.  Going to the fireworks stand and buying a bunch of stuff.. and then going home and blowing up several models that I had put together during the rest of the year, and other "assorted" items.  Watching the nighttime displays has always, even to this day, been one of my most looked forward to events of the year.

Thanks a lot Walt!

The lawn chair is a quick and fairly easy item to make.  This one took me about 2 to 3 hours to make, but a lot of that time was spent figuring out the best way to go about it.  I posted instructions on how to make one on the old Token Three Railer Blog.  The instructions are still on this site, about 2/3 the way down on the front page.

I believe Jim M made one of these from the instructions, but I can't find the thread to link you to the photo of his lawn chair. It may have been before the forum changeover.  Jim's lawn chair came out beautifully!

Took a trip on Amtrak to Napa, noted looks like they moved the 4449 and 700 to the area of the new roundhouse location looks like roof is up but not the walls yet. Did not see the trains on the trip down but the whole fleet was by the new roundhouse on the trip back. Here is a quick view through the window. 4449 was just in front of this. Other equipment as well was on the tracks around the area. Did not have camera ready in time.

The start of the weekend, June 29, found the O-Gauge Railfan down at the trolley stop. On the main, waiting for new crew, was a pair of B&O FA units. They had begun life in the 1950's as Lionel Rock Island #2031. After a blue repaint by their original owner, the current owner used them in 1976 for his first repaint effort. They still retain that B&O Blue and Gray he applied. Over 50 years old, they remain excellent runners and see regular freight service. The 2031 first appeared in the Lionel Catalog in 1952.

Decided to take a few steps back with the camera for a change. Gives a better idea of how the red rock area and the freight yard are situated in relation to each other. Still waiting for inspiration as to the perfect transition scene from one to another. It might just end up being some sort of a "view-block" to separate the two.

My other project was a weathered autorack. I thought it turned out well complete with graffitti dedicated to my mother-in-law who my son calls Kay Kay. She sure does rule.
