A Photo from West Bloomfield, Michigan - “Running MENARDS new Santa Fe F3”
Adam (Age 7) & Noah (Age 6) are very happy with MENARDS first locomotive.
Thanks for taking a look & have a great weekend: Gary & my train crew. 🚂
Photos of fun for this fine weekend! Thanks Scott for getting us started today! Great photos! Gary - terrific looking grandkids! I love that you keep them involved with trains
My photos of fun have to do with all of the day and night action at the commuter station. Not only different commuter train numbers but the variety of trains and railroads that work out of a single station themselves. Passenger stations of any kind have always intrigued me because of the variety of action which takes place there.
Here we have an east bound Western Maryland commuter train stopped at the station. In reality the WM only ran local trains, except for a few years, in the earlier part of the 20th century, when they ran all Pullman trains from Baltimore - Chicago via the P&LE and NYC into Chicago.
Late night commuter trains arrive heading west. At left a Baldwin Shark heads up a commuter while a B&O RDC train is on the adjacent track.729 t
While stopped at the station, WM 729 takes on water before heading west. ht sa
About 9 p.m. daily light savings time, an B&O RDC departs eastbound as a trolly glides by on the EL.
The photographer caught all simultaneous action as a Hudson brings its train into the station.
Pennsy MU cars making a station stop.
Early evening commuter train arriving from the east.
A Reading commuter train departs heading west.
8 a.m. B&O RDC due west waits for the green signal.
To most passengers this view is just another eye sore, however, to the rail fan who snapped this photo from the window of an RDC this photo is pure beauty! One might think of this scenario as one point of view viewed through two different lenses.
Patrick, those ground level shots of passengers and commuters are inspiring!
This is the 3rd of the temp layouts that I built earlier this year for 2 reasons:
We rode the wonderful CA Amtrak Surfliner to Laguna Beach last week. Got off at the San Juan Capistrano stop and took Uber to the beach. A great 7 hour ride down the CA coast from San Luis Obispo:
A 2020 Christmas Layout memory
Continuing with showing the residences that made up Waltburg on the plateau.
This one is my son's house in Macedonia, OH. I created a street repair scene because in real life there was road repair going on in front of his house and also in front of the house next to it.

Just some train-running!
1st, the ultimate in track-cleaning trains......
....next, an MPC classic.....
....and last but not least, exercising the F7s.......
Have a great and safe weekend, folks......

I often run ten-wheeler steam engines because they have a classic look and are a good size for a small model railroad such as my 12’-by-8’. The two steamers in these photos are old and new. PRR G-5s 5740 is an MTH Premier model (20-3031-1) with PS1 and a BCR that I have been running for more than twenty years. New York Central F-12 1232 is a recent Lionel Legacy model (2131070). I like the old engine just as much as the new one.
The hobo colony on my layout has a new fellow in front of the trackside outhouse. The outhouse is very light and regularly gets knocked off the table. This week, for the first time, it got damaged, and I had to repair the roof and the doorway. So, I attached the new guy to the outhouse with epoxy to add some weight that may prevent future falls. As a youngster, I often saw pictures of hobos on railroads taken during the Great Depression, and since my trains and model railroads are set in that era, there are quite a few hobos to be seen.
