It's time for WEEKEND PHOTO FUN!!!!

I hadn't seen any of the Norfolk Southern Heritage unit over the last month. I was beginning to think that they were gone from the Roanoke region. However Tuesday I found the Erie around the old Virginian passenger station.

Recently, Wowak upgraded my Lionel Reading T-1 with full working valve gear, a scale pilot coupler, a "mantel clock" atop her air pump shield, and a brass whistle. This front view includes two white flags he installed. The Reading's renowned Iron Horse Rambles were special trains, and the locomotives carried white flags.

Here she is in the Shenandoah (PA) Historical Society last Tuesday. I didn't bring the white flags because their staffs were fine/thin wire. I didn't want people to poke them. The cap is an Iron Horse Rambles souvenir. Car hosts gave them to children. I found this one packed away in a box - mint condition.

I'm afraid I can't do that, Don. If you'll check, you will see that all that stuff in your yard has been so cemented into place that there is no hope of ever moving it. In fact, that poor guy outside the fence, looking under the hood, and his pick-up truck can't move either! The whole place seems frozen in time.

I'm out here in Houston right now. Just dropped in on the in-laws to check on their computer and clean up their network. Got to stop by Sugarland and saw the Imperial Sugar Mill up close and personal as well as the old SP Sugarland Depot (now the Fort  Bend County Chamber of Commerce).

The sugar mill has been closed for years, but plans are to re-purpose the facility as a buusiness center and possibly retail. There was evidence of recent activity with respect to the building. They also hold their Farmers Market there on Saturdays.

The depot used to reside across the street from the sugar mill trackside. In 1985 it was disassembled and moved to its present location and restored to be used as the Chamber of Commerce offices and visitor information center. Interestingly enough, on Route 90, there is a replica (about half sized) of the depot that is a health club. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good position to get a good photo.

Four of July Weekend.
Bi-centennial colors from many years ago.  The Pittsburg and Shawmut RR (Shawmut Line) was a short line, coal hauling, railroad in Western PA.  It eventually became part of the Genesee and Wyoming Group as part of the Buffalo and Pittsburgh RR. The Engine repair shop at Brookville, PA still exist.  Most of the existing track is gone.  My father worked in the car shop and then later as a machinist turned wheels for the P&S.  Uncle Clair worked right-of-way and tunnel repair.  The names on the units refer to guns or gun manufactures. There was also a Dan Colt.  Atlas undecorated SW9's custom painted.

A GP7 that came from the Pennsylvania RR was also custom Red White and Blue painted.  Unfortunately I don't have the name tag "Dan Wesson". Even the number 357 refers to a gun.
