My "temporary" layout I've spun up, while I plan out the new one. Simple 4 train setup using my old 8x12 Mianne benchwork and an extra 4x8 on the back 1/3 of it. It's working at least...
Gotta keep me and the grandkids entertained.
.
Progress on Woolworth's.......hopefully finished over the next 2 weekends.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Until yesterday, during my many years in the hobby, I had never owned a Lionel 2461 depressed center flat car with transformer load. During an outing with MNCW Tom yesterday, we stopped at Westchester Trains in White Plains and, lo and behold, there was a reasonably priced 2461 with its original box waiting for me. Not pristine by any stretch, the car is still in nice condition and quite suitable for operation on a layout.

Interborough Rapid Transit Train of LoV Cars Enroute to Flushing Meadows & The World's Fair.
Guess what years this train operated. Hint: The BMT had trackage rights on the IRT to the World's Fair and it ran trains with blue & orange cars so Brooklynites could go.

Chris sold off most of his O gauge and is now getting into HO. Here's a pic of his layout from his Facebook page
I'm still around. I've been focusing more on HO of late & going with a smaller O layout for the kids due to the space issues or rather lack of it I was dealing with

I can't fully explain it but I was excited to get ahold of this one. I have been trying for almost four years. She scolded me again but I'll take the blame. Times like these make me feel blessed!
Forgive me for this one if it needs deleting?
I got several new trains this week. My girl reminded me that I wanted to look at new trucks soon and I should be saving. My older truck is still in great shape but I heard the Chevy commercials and figured I'd look anyways.
The salesman showed me a number and I thought it was some fee? It was the total out the door price with my trade and several extra rebates for a brand new Silverado. I was just looking but I said where do I sign? We went back today to finalize the deal and he found another rebate that lowered the price again! I have never, ever had so much fun at the car dealers!
Thank you to West Herr Chev and Chevrolet. I got eight new engines and now a new Silverado for a song! My luck has changed so much this week. After some rough years when I was younger, and tuff again when I lost my job, I am not bragging. I am so thankful that I want to say thanks.
Thanks also to Bernie (Scratchbuilder), Trainz, John Peyton, Meryl at Caboose Stop, Dennis Sirrine, and many, many others! (Barry B., Marty F., Ray Manley, Chuck, etc, etc.)

Hey Bobby O gage. When the Flushing and Astoria Els were first placed in service as part of the Dual Contracts, they were set up for joint operations for both the IRT and the BMT. The station at Queens boro Plaza was originally 8 tracks and 4 island platforms on two levels. The IRT used the South side and the BMT used the north side. IRT service was provided from the Steinway Tunnels (what we know as today's 7 line) and the second Ave elevated, closed in 1942. The BMT service was via the 6oth street tunnel to Queensboro Plaza where passengers changed for Wood El cars operating to either Astoria or Flushing.
On the IRT, the Steinway line used low V's to both Astoria and Flushing until 1948 when the R-12s began arriving. The second ave service was with the same cars that operated on the Third ave el. the BMT used wood El cars for the Queens service until 1939 when it placed the Q cars in service. These were rebuilt gate cars with closed vestibules and pneumatic operated doors. They provided the BMT service including the Worlds Fair trains from Queensboro Plaza through 1940 and up to 1948 when the joint operation was eliminated with the BMT getting the Astoria line and the IRT getting the Flushing Line. The Q cars then went to the Third Ave el and worked there until the el was discontinued. These cars came back to Brooklyn in 1957 and ran on the Myrtle ave el until 1969. A number of them survived in Work service . Six cars were preserved by the TA museum, three of which were converted back to the BU gate cars that they began their service careers as.
The train looks good on the Hellgate bridge.
I wanted just a small Postwar style layout aside from my larger garage layout, which of course is far from done. I had shown it here when I started it a couple of months ago. After a while thought is was too small, so I add 2 feet to it. Typical model railroader, never satisfied!
Before
After, with 2 Postwar sets 2101w and 2139w I'm trying to piece together. Gotta ways to go but it's all good.
That is so 1950's that it is elegant. My self and two of my friends all started this way. Great memories if simpler times. ;-)
Good morning. Today its old vs new, 1945.
The first PRR E7 AA set, reluctantly purchased by PRR's management to test its performance, passes a HH1 and T1 parked on a siding. The PRR had purchased a few diesel switchers by 1945, but the company was still committed to coal and was completing its purchase of the steam powered, fast passenger T1. Unfortunately for the PRR steam program, the performance of the E7 was so good that management could no longer ignore the diesel's benefits. The T1 lasted only 8 years before they were all retired and eventually scrapped.

I've told Chris that it's half the size, half the fun and that makes him half a man! (Just teasing of course)
if he really is worried about making the most of the space he has, he should just go to N scale

Your permanent record is awarded ten merits for your photographs with such great dynamic color, and for putting those two cute little rascals to work in the cab of the engine.
@Christopher:
You've built and shared some great 0-3r layouts with us over the years. For that: Thanks.
In regards to the need to downsize in order to accommodate another young'in:
We all have to do what we feel is best for us (family needs vs personal desires, etc.) within this hobby. Moving to HO is understandable and much better for the industry than deciding to leave model railroading and take up collecting safety pins or something.
Wish you well, and don't forget to hang out at the HONGZ forum with your HO dabblings as well as sharing Proto-Pics here/wherever as desired.
FWIW: Your little ones are growing up. You are SO SMART to spend time with them NOW before they are all-too-quickly grown up and on their own.
Best to 'ya!
Andre
