My MTH Veranda is fixed and MTH installed the smoke tray. I removed the 3-rail coupler in front, filled the hole, added some hoses, lowered it (big pain in the neck), moved in the trucks in, and weathered it.

Chris - way to tempt me even more - AGAIN!
When I first decided to, using your words, join the shiny group, I knew that I would only be getting 2 sets, never any more other than adding a car maybe. I thought I wanted 2 steamers. Why, because I have so many bottles of smoke fluid left over from my 'O' days that steamers just made sense.
Until a forum friend brought his Orange and Blue version of the engine you showed here, with the matching 3 cars. WOW, I fell in love with it!
Now I'm completely torn because I refuse to own more than 2 engines after giving up all of my other stuff.
Thanks for posting the tin-plate pictures!! Please keep doing so!

Out here on the West Coast and in particular the San Francisco Bay Area...we have a restored steam locomotive. It is owned and run by the Golden Gate Railroad Museum (GGRM). It is the Southern Pacific 2472. It is a P-8, 4-6-2 Pacific. I've had the wonderful experience of riding on it numerous times thanks to fellow Forumite, Scale Rail. I've ridden in the cab and on the tender. Every Memorial and Labor Day they have public steam excursions. A couple of years ago I snapped a pic of the 2472 rolling down the tracks with a 1949 Chevy Truck stopped at some crossbucks. This year the GGRM used the photo for their Labor Day steam excursion promotional flyer. It was made to look like an old black and white photo. Matt

I like Maerklin Maxi cars in gauge 1. I heard ETS made them for Maerklin. Looking at the photos, I see many similarities. So, ETS is now on my horizon. Thanks for the post.
Here are two from our recent trip to Kansas City . . . .
And one from the layout . . . .
Enjoy

Here's a few photo's of SIRT working behind my house
Hi all,
We've been having a lot of fun this summer on the NWTL. We've finished several projects and of course have more in the works. Much of our effort is directed at recreating real life scenes. The goal is for someone who has seen the real thing to walk into the NWTL and say... Hay, I know where that is... without being told. A few locations are really coming together nicely.
Silver Bow Canyon, MT
Royal Gorge, CO
Palisades Canyon, NV
St. Paul Pass, MT
We also put together a video (a rather looooong video) taking you on a single lap tour of the whole layout. Hope you enjoy it!
Merciful heavens, that's quite a trip. And your rail was clean and the switches were well maintained. Well done.
Thank you Wonderful experience. Mike CT
Dave,
It is amazing how well those real scenes have been replicated on the layout. The whole layout is spectacular! It is a work of art with some first class craftsmanship. I really have to see this in person. Well done! B.T.W I noticed lots of custom ScaleTrax switches. They definitely enhanced the realism of route and were worth the extra effort. I really enjoyed the video. Good job to you and the crew!
Thanks, Rich
dave,
what a layout....
will this be open to the public....
now that's the train room I would like in my basement....
now that was enjoyable to see nice work. speaking of work where do you all find time to do that? while working on the layout too.

Nice pics, all! Haven't taken the time to view the video yet... reads like it's a dandy.

Tell Joshua his fans are needing a fix on some pics of his layout!!
It was my lot in life to raise a fantastic daughter. (Now THERE'S an experience for a guy to go through!) I am forunate that we have, and had, some things in common. But as those of you that have raised daughters exclusively, you know firsthand there's a difference that's much more than anatomical: Women think different and interpret life differently than us guys. (Thank God!)
I say that to say this: It must me pretty cool to have a son that enjoys common ground with you. What a great way to interact. Enjoy!
Andre
