Extra 6014D East rolling past the milling complex in South Spokane WA on August 12, 1952.
Shot this at my operating session last night. Kept 12 guys busy on the railroad for three hours.
Could have used another 2 operators. We were short crews for the road jobs, and the passenger trains ran late.
Gonna have to petition the ICC to eliminate the Spokane to Worley locals if this keeps up. They are interfering with the "money trains".
This area of the railroad is only 13" wide at this point, and sits over the underpinning where they dug out my crawl space.

Here's a little something I whipped up in a couple hours drawing from my library of "texture photos" I've taken over the years...
I wanted an engine house for that town... but didn't want to set in and build the permanent model for that location... so this temporary place holder will suffice until the time comes for it's permanent replacement!
SO, after doctoring up the various items in photo software, I printed it out, cut out the photos and pasted it them to some poster board, then cut and assembled into the above. Presto: Done deal.
Though I've used my PhotoFlat concept to create flats for myself for backdrops, this was a first time I've used the concept to produce a full 3D structure. I foresee many more such temp structures in my future.

Took a break from layout building today, and slapped three Branchline Yardmaster kits together that I picked up from Ebay this week.
A have a few of these on the railroad, and in my opinion, they were one of the best values out there when they were readily available. Very nice molding, clean graphics, and just the right amount of detail. The end stirrup steps are a bit fragile (all three kits had two broken steps on the open box side), but nothing that a little "Same Stuff" and a precision applicator couldn't fix.
Dropped in a set of Kadee #148 couplers, and Intermountain wheels (the kit metal wheels didn't roll that well), checked the coupler height, and they are ready for service. Will weather these at a later date, but they need to generate revenue NOW.

Here a while back I purchased one of the Branchline boxcars off eBay. The box was sealed. (But I don't know if an end user sealed it or from the factory.) Surprisingly, it was missing the frame casting! SO... I went through my stash of stuff and found an Athearn casting that I was able to make work.
In spite of the missing frame, overall it is a nice looking model. May have to pick up some more of 'em.

Their Blueprint series are awesome also, but take a fair amount of time to put together. The bottom end grabs are especially maddening.
I have two of the 50' cars in Santa Fe to assemble, and I will probably do them over the next couple of weeks.
