This week, I have some photos of my new Lionel PRR Mikado's running past my Legacy PRR Class J Texas. All are great smokers. Before you read this, I have one question for anyone who may have bought these engines. When them first showed up about six weeks ago, both eventually locked up and the cab light began to flash. I returned them to Lionel, but they sent them back saying nothing was wrong with them. But after using them for a while, the same thing happened again. I called Lionel and they asked me to ship them back again. In frustration, I took the locked one and sort of pushed it back and forth, and voila! It started running again. I'm convinced the gears are lightly locking in there, and know of two other people who have had similar problems with theirs. So have any of you had the same experience with these engines? Now on to the photos...
First, here the are passing intermediate signal 150:
And here are the Mikado's passing through View interlocking atop the stone arch bridge crossing over Sherman's Creek at Duncannon. That is "View" tower to the left:
Finally, here you see them passing by the Class J once more. I used a lot of smoke fluid to create these pictures! Not often that I run so many steam engines on the layout!
That's it for this week! (Hand is still recovering from surgery and in a splint. Very hard to type. Fortunately, it's coming off next Tuesday!)

Thanks Scott for getting us started for this fine weekend! Here are my photos of the fun kind. Have a terrific weekend everyone!!
It's busy day at the team track. Foreman Elmer Duff stands on a flat car loaded with pipe as he mentally works over a plan to position the equipment needed to trans-load the pipe to waiting tractor/trailers. Meanwhile Jake Pearson stands in the doorway of the FR&P boxcar with the final crate to be unloaded, a baby grand piano. He's hoping the forklift will be able to handle the weight and bulk. If not he can only imagine what kind of sound all those 88 keys and strings will make as the piano hits the ground.
Standing on the pedestrian bridge looking west a Western Maryland BL2 and B&O GP9 are on the ready tracks. A Pennsy GG1 eases out, east bound, to connect to its' train which is waiting at the station. Barely visible behind the water tank is a N&W J class waiting to head west.
A Patapsco and Back Rivers RR gondola is eased through a switch.
N&W J class pops out of Westend tunnel's north portal. In the tunnel behind the J is the Powhatan Arrow!

Neal,
Your photos are always well done and an inspiration. Your layout is on my bucket list for sure. Thanks for sharing. FYI, there is an entire thread centering around the issue you have been having with your Mikado. I'm sure if you use the search bar and type in "Lionel Legacy L1" or similar it should pop up.

Dave,
Thank you for your comments regarding my layout. As far as the Mikado's go, I figured that that was the case, and I will search for the thread that you have alluded to.
The Chesapeake and Delaware RR, cadrailroads.com has just about completed the restoration of the Freehold Secondary which connects Freehold and Farmingdale NJ. They have also improved the Conrail Secondary which runs from Redbank through Farmingdale and then South to Toms River. The Conrail secondary was the former CNJ route of the Blue Comet.
Today I passed one of the completed crossings and saw this. The word is that they are preparing the driving public. Good luck with that, it’s like the Wild West on the roads around here.

Would one of you be so kind as to share the link? I don’t have an L1 but one of my legacy engines exhibited similar problems. What reminded me was the comment about the cab lights flashing. I just ran two engines that were on the track recently. They ran ok.

Thanks Neal.
Great photos look forward to seeing everyone's contributions each week.
Locally we had an employee family day event at the local railway yard. Very well attended lots of stuff for the kids. Here are some photos I took; our railway museum brought along a Vintage FP9 engine for display beside the BC Rail retro paint job. (also a pic with our MTH club train engine to match) Our museum also supplied 3 passenger cars and families enjoyed a long train ride through the main rail yard. A little CN train was popular for rides. And our model train club set up our Modular railway. There was also a large G scale layout, bouncy castles and many other kid friendly things at the event. A great day with trains;

Just returned home from a kayaking/hiking trip to New England. Normally I have lots of pictures of the many railroad trains and cars in the upstate New Hampshire area, but this year I was too busy to get many. I did catch the Conway Scenic train as it was headed up to Crawford Notch.

Great final shots of 2022, Walt...I presume planning for 2023 will begin soon (if it hasn't already). Looking forward to seeing the next iteration.

I'm a little late to the party but have had a very busy weekend. Here is a picture of the first bracket signal lit up. We didn't have time to completely to wire it for turnout position and occupancy, but I'm excited to finally see it lit up. It is located on my Milwaukee Road branchline at my town of LaGrange.
I am adding a lot of new pictures on my thread. If you are interested in following the signal project, you can see it here:

Thanks pd! Yes, I have my plans for my 2023 Christmas layout complete. Too early to share images but drawings will come early-mid November. 5 trains, 2 levels. One big objective I had for this year is to use accessories that I like but rarely use. I think I included all of them! Not all that I have, but all that I rarely use.
Another objective is to set up a scene on part of the elevated section that is my favorite one of all time.
