Congratulations on the nice coverage your layout received.  I'm sure you've already framed the pages and they're already on the layout room wall.

I say that because you seem to have the ability to go from zero to "really nice layout" faster than anyone I've ever run across.  To say I'm envious is the understatement of the year.

Congratulations again and please keep the photos coming.

Here’s a project that’s been sitting on my work bench for months while the DeLorean has been getting all the luv.

Last weekend my son and I got an old desk down from the attic.....where it had been since we moved in 04......for his apartment in Charlottesville.

In its drawer I heard some rattleling and found these........out of site for 13+ years.....

Hey Chris I am also doing a layout that also depicts the North Jersey Coast Line. Layout measures 5x9 Gargraves/Ross track not yet hooked up. Some of the ideas I got from you.

By way of review.....I have been responsible for 12 linear feet of our modular group layout since 2010. This year we are expanding the layout by 6' on each side.....A complete rebuild of the circus area and expansion from 12' to 18' The industrial/city/commercial area I am responsible will expand by 6'.

This past summer I have been engaged in building 2 large factories for the expansion. One of them is modern, kit-bashed Korber kits with "air rights" over the ROW. The other is styled as an old New England/Northeastern mill and is called MAX FOODS after my "granddog, Max.

 

The 12' as they exist now:

MAX FOODS is a kit bash of 7 Lionel kits, 3 Municipal Buildings and 4 Electrical Substations

Concrete pylons to replace the train books are under construction....In fact, Gilly@N&W (who has built them) will be over later today. The factory was made from 2 Korber kits.

I also snuck in a Woodland Scenics "Morrison Door Company". For $75 at April York, I couldn't pass it up.....

The MAX FOODS advertising campaign begins in mid November. Even the "little Max" between the green roofs will be getting a paint job.....

Joe, I went to SUNY at Buffalo Med School from 75-79 and survived 4 of their worst winters that had been recorded at that time.....I'm always ready for snow...and yes, my home probably has Richmond's largest collection of manual snow and ice removal equipment!

Hey, Chris - The congratulatory post I put up last Monday (25th) got deleted so fast I almost went back in time.  Looks okay to put it here, so let me say again, congratulations!  An eight-page layout spread in the 30th anniversary issue and the cover too.  Wow!

You deserve it.  That's a snazzy layout.

Scenery work is continuing on the Rio Grande switching layout. After two or so months, the lake/water area is finally complete. Have some detailing left, but I think it turned out pretty well. Used a combination of Woodlandscenics water, water effects, Mod Podge and varnish. Why so many different products? I had to change course mid way thru the project after the WS water effects, really didn't look exactly the way I intended. I also utilized dirt and real ground cover under the water pour...and that just didn't look right. I ended up painting the WS pours with an acrylic paint mixture or cerilium blue, green and black, and then placed 3 layers of Mod Podge on top. Finished by using varnish. Basically very similar to Dave Frary's technique in creating water. I think it came out pretty well. Some nice color and water effects...looks very refreshing in the hot sun!
