Where did the week go!? Here are a couple of shots of Tom Snyder's Layout at the NJHR. Now let's see your tinplate!

Love that layout.
As it begins to be vacancy time for many, what do you think of a visit in Germany of the "Traumwerk Museum" with the collection of toy trains and many other things, from Hans Peter Porshe, from cars to toys of all kind. Many of the trains are from Marklin in gauges 0, 1 ,2 and bigger and all are of the highest original quality possible to find. A dream to visit places like this.
The pictures are just a really small overview of that fantastic collection.
It was a great time to be there, you even have a shop museum with some wondeerfull pieces for sale....
Have great tinplate weekend, Daniel

Daniel, Those are incredible trains! They really made some very nice trains that far exceed what Lionel and Ives were making at the same time. Very rare to see so many in one place but I guess that museum must be a holy grail for Marklin and some other manufactures. Thanks for posting those!
Nothing fancy, I put washers on all the axles for my O gauge trains yesterday, and did a test to make sure they would go over the 90 degree crossover without derailing. Seemed to work well.
Can see Whiskers being lazy in the background.
Yes Dennis, a really incredible collection. Rare to see so many valuables and rare pieces in one place. Even in the old europe all those toys where very expensives and only made for wealthy families and the price cannot compare with Lionel or Ives? As train collectors are very often interested in many other old things i add some more pictures, non train related. If it is a problem to post those here i can remove them.

Daniel, these are wonderful pictures of a great time gone by. Are you familiar with the Technorama in Winterthur, Switzerland, is the Porsche collection as good or even better?

Miketg, i visited ten years ago the Technorama and can assure it is a great place to go; it is more oriented on scientific experimentations but the train collection is somptuous. I prefer the Porsche collection, due to toy trains and also other toys but there is also the cars that are in incredible condition, it is high quality everywhere on all models. Finally i would say that the two museums complete each other. Too bad we don't have an equivalent museum of toy trains in France....

A few colorful additions showed up this week.
An all orange Hafner #86 Overland Flyer coach.
A Ives NYC & HR boxcar
A couple of the harder to get colors of Marx prewar boxcars with auto couplers.

those look great Steve, and I thought you were moving solely to the Standard side.
Picked up this Marx CV windup passenger set at an estate sale today, I could not resist buying when I heard the bell. Came with track and original Marx instruction sheet. The sparking feature does not work I think it needs a new flint.
Here's short video. It derailed at the end, does not like fastrak turnouts

Daniel those are some beautiful trains and toys. Looks like a place I'd like to visit.
Franktrain that is a striking Marx set, nice find.
Not a good looking as the rest of the trains posted, but will be someday, I got this in a deal with Dennis Holler. First Prewar American Flyer locomotive for me.

A friend of mine dropped this off at the house the other day - a booklet included with prewar Lionel sets (year unknown):
Never saw one of these before...very cool. Unusual logo...

I did get my Lionel 1685/87 cars put back together although I still need to wire up the lights. Polished wheels, trucks, couplers and waxed the heck out of the bodies... Also had to repair 3 of the coupler skirts but they run great!

those look great Dennis. I'd like to pick up some of those, bet they would look good with some of my six wheeled trucks behind my 226E.
Thanks Dave, They are good looking cars for sure an they will look great with 6 wheel trucks too. Some 2613/14/15 cars would also look great behind the 226E!

Steve,
Looks like a great event! I'm assuming that the PRR DD-1's were homemade by someone and I would like to know more about them.

I brought the DD1's they were built by Pete Maurer (Pierre). Drives built by Bob Hendricks in CA and they run and pull great. Got Em about 6 months ago
Jim,
Nice find! I was always a fan of the DD-1's distinctive looks and whirling side rods. BTW we last met at the "Monday Night" groups get together with your recently completed GS-4's.
