I don't know what happend, but one of the TMCC locomotives I had assigned to my DCS remote vanishes and when I added it again it gave a new number. The original number is gone #24 and I can't find it in there anywhere includiing inactive. I looked in the companion and didn't see anything about it so if it is mabe Barry can tell me where to look of might know what caused it. It's really weird lol.

Just edit the number back to the actual number of the TMCC locomotive, #24 in this case.
No it's the engine ID number it won't assign it to a Proto 2 or TMCC engine, it's strange how it happend.
John,
Odds are that the slot is gone, period.
There"s a bug in DCS that goes like this:
- Some junk gets into a slot
- It looks enough like an engine that DCS thinks the slot is used
- It doesn't look enough like an engine that DCS will display it or allow it to be edited.
The only way to regain the slot is to either reset the remote (ugh!), cleaan out the junk (MTH does not provide a way to do so), or restore the remote from a cloned backup (DCS 4.0 or greater).
I think I'll let it be gone Barry, UGH is correct for restoring the remote lol. Thank you. Gene
I sorted itself somehow when I added a new engine today the hidden number came up with no engine assigned but I able to delete it and add the new engine to that number. Like barry said some junk might have gotten into the slot lol.
When you get enough information stored in your remote, you should consider a backup when everything is working properly, that way something like this is a minor inconvenience, not a major problem.
Think of the remote like your computer's disk, backup is a really good idea.
I have 4.20 firmware.
It seems whenever I poke around in the menus or try and speak in the mike, stuff happens ...
I just got my new switcher and tried to lower the engine volume. It worked eventually but not at first. It stopped responding to commands from the remote and another loco started up. Turned the system off and back on and one started like conversational ... turned system off again and on and it started working.
Is it always like this ...
The Mike doesn't work right, this is something that bit me in the butt when I first got DCS, and it hasn't gotten any better.

Really ...
Is there something else I should avoid doing that could cause me grief ?
If the mike hangs, you have to push the button a couple of times to wake the remote back up. There's no other major issues that I have experienced that you have to watch for.
