Quick question that I should know the answer to:  Were any of Lionel's large tenders from the prewar and postwar era made of plastic, or Bakelite?  Specifically I'm referring to the 2426, 2226, and 2224 tenders.  All of the ones I have are metal- just wondering if they were ever cast in Bakelite as well.  If so,  how rare are the plastic versions?  Thanks!

@texastrain thanks for the info, but I don't want to confuse things.  I know the 2466w, 2466wx, etc., had a Bakelite body.  This is the 4-axle tender that came with the 675 and even the 671 Turbine, I think, in the late 1940s.  What I'm asking about here are the slightly longer "premium" tenders that were used with the scale Hudson, Postwar 726 Berkshire, and some of the premium O gauge locos from the prewar era.

If these were never made in plastic, I wonder how hard it would be to make a mold from the metal body, and cast one out of resin?  I've never done this; I wonder if it would be a dimensionally accurate copy, or if it would grow or shrink as a result of the casting process??
