In 2011, SEPTA, the West Chester Railroad, and the village of Lansdale, PA worked together to run an excursion between West Chester and Lansdale. the train would be pulled by MLW RS18u #1803 and Alco C424 #4230. The excursion ran on WCRR's property for the first part of the trip before entering SEPTA's property. The train ran to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, and #4230 was replaced by SEPTA GenSet #70, which was sandwiched between #1803 and the coaches. This was done because the train had to pass through the Market East Tunnel, and there were two issues. #4230 was too tall to clear the tunnel, and the exhaust of the Alcos would have set off the tunnel's fire suppression system. So in the tunnel, #1803 idled while SEPTA #70 did all of the work.
My purpose for posting this is because I was wondering if anyone had a picture of the excursion train in the Market East Tunnel. If you have one, please share it. I have looked everywhere for one.
