Thanks for posting the pics. I'm looking forward to see this show again.

The heavy grade to Frostburg , the tunnel , a turntable and  easy access via park trail

make this a worthy trip. Over a good weekend-one can check out WMSRR, East Broad Top RR and Horse Shoe Curve--all within few hours of each other. But WMSRR puts

on the big show-- going up those grades pulling  a string of passenger cars. -no less these freight cars in May.

I was there during a large Boy Scout meet and they were all excited and  loved the ride.

I took my Boy Scout Cycling merit badge group to Rockwood, PA  a couple of years ago. We biked over the mountain to Frostburg, MA and returned.  A lot to see in a short time.  The Great Allegheny Passage bike trail gets a lot of national publicity, but very few riders know about the Western Maryland Scenic RR.

Thanks for sharing!

I will say that Cass is king of grades, I still recall my ride and literally learning by watching the brakeman on the return trip.

If you have an opportunity try to get up towards Fort Necessity (Not a train attraction, but part of our history.) you will find it sandwiched between ridges.
