There was a nice article in the Enquirer today about the Worlds Greatest Hobby on Tour show held in Oaks. Extensive interview with Doug Blaine from Bachmann. In addition there was mention of a company in Bucks County making digital control systems TCS Incorporated in Blooming Glen PA. They said attendance was 29,500.

Anyone know anything about them?

If you google TCS Incorporated there is a link to the article.

Nicely done.

Some already immersed in the hobby--especially O gaugers, it seems--tend to whine about the lack of "stuff to buy" at the WGH shows.  But what they fail to understand is that these kinds of events are absolutely fundamental to keeping the hobby in the public eyes and minds.  They, along with smaller shows and club open houses around the country, definitely provide a benefit that will pay dividends in the long run.

A well-written article. What I like about the WGH shows is the number of families that attend the shows. The hobby will gain strength if it's a family affair as opposed to the kid alone in a room with the trains. One thing that I haven't seen discussed at train shows is "complimentary hobbies" -- i.e., hobby pursuits that can integrate with model railroading. Examples would include gardening (outdoor layout), dollhouse building/collecting (change the scale to 1/4" and it works for O gauge), and die cast car collecting.
