Assuming you mean the turn into the 21st century:
1) Advancement and increased use of DPU.
2) Fuel economies and emissions reductions with Tier 4 prime movers.
3) PTC.
How about freight car design and innovations?
Reinforced tank cars with shelf couplers.

Maybe he meant CRRC, the Chinese railcar builder?
