One thing that my dad purchased new from the 50 catalog was the Santa Fe Streamline Passenger train set that I still have today. What I would like today from that year is the farm set! That would be one cool set to have now!
Guess I'll have to wait for the 1957 catalog!

Well, my time machine is in the shop. But as soon as I get it fixed, I'd like to stop by 1950-52, and pick up a few 600 series cars to go with my American Flyer locos with link couplers.
Some of the late 600 series cars are hard to come by like the Southern gondola and Wabash hopper
I'll have to fudge a little with a pair of 722A manual switches (with box) from Port Lines. They're in the 1952 catalog...but it's still the link coupler era

So late? I was the ripe age of 10 when that came out.

The Wabash hopper happens to be on my want list.
Well, I did not make an appearance until 1980, but looking at the catalog I would want the Santa Fe Deluxe stream line passenger set, and the UP Northern steam freight with the add on cattle loading car.

The Wabash hoppers are nice but there is a problem with them. When Flyer went to the longer Three spring link coupler truck it causes the inner wheels to rub on the bottom of the hopper. Both of my Link coupler Wabash hoppers are of the three spring variety. I have seen pictures of two spring trucks on these cars also.
I have one original box car that has one three spring and one two spring truck on it that appears to be factory made.
