We very recently moved to a quintessential '50s California beach community, and, in the move, I sold about 20% of my (fairly) extensive collection.  Another 25% will be on the block soon.

What I'll be looking for at York, April '16, will be re-making my recently dismantled 9'x13' layout and creating a new layout in a 10'x12' bedroom.  Sounds tough ... but I'm looking forward to the creative challenge.

Speaking as someone who also goes to gun shows, I have to say that you're trading one kind of crazy old guys for another.  IMO, the chances of finding a good deal are better at a train show.

Yes it IS a seller's market, gun and ammo-wise. However, at a 2,000-table show in Oaks, PA, 2 weeks ago, I got a new S&W Model 617 for $77. UNDER the MSRP. Plenty of 22lr ammo for the first few hours...then GONE.

The only thing I will be looking for is the latest offerings from DiecastDirect. Train-wise, I'm full-up. Lately I've been spending time at gun shows.

Farmer Bill, most seem to have all their teeth.

'Will DiecastDirect be at York ? If so do you know which hall ? Thanks.

All I can say is that they HAVE been for at least the past 2 years (although I had to miss the past Oct. York). They have been near the far-back of the Orange Hall, to the right, near the Lionel booth.

Another thing, in the Orange Hall, that may be of interest to some of you "new" folks is the selection of Lemax animated Halloween and Christmas items. There are usually 2 dealers selling them, one with good bargains. I point this out because I've found the selection at Michael's, Boscov's, and other stores pretty small the past few years.

I'm looking for rare Atlas Raritan River, Morristown & Erie, and Black River & Western items. All of which will probably not be there.

Keep me in mind if you strike out looking for BR&W, M&E and Raritan River equipment at York. I'm starting the process of thinning my collection and I have a number of models in these road names which were released by Atlas over the years.

I'm already keeping your offer in mind. Here's my situation. I know of one place where a BR&W diesel is located. That would be the Train Room in Point Pleasant. I already have one Raritan River Switcher and soon will have a custom Atlas USRA 0-6-0. I've been looking for one of the Atlas M&E C-424's. If we could talk about this one day, that would be great.

Other than my friends.      Weaver 2 bay coal hoppers in northeast roads and modern Weaver 4 bay UP coal hoppers. Thats the plan but chances are I won't find them and I'll buy something else, like a coal mine.

I have some weaver 2 bay hoppers fs that I can bring to York. Check my listing in the fs forum. Price is negotiable.

Thinking of going as a 1st timer. Trying to build up a MTH consist of Christmas boxcars but given this is a spring show, am I likely to find much Christmas themed rolling stock? I went to the Amherst Show in Springfield MA earlier this year and saw some Polar Express items, but not a lot else. I'd like to go just for the experience, but would enjoy it more if I can find MTH Christmas boxcars for years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Two thoughts after 1 afternoon at York:

1. Thank you to OGR On-line Forum. I never would have known about York had I not stumbled upon this forum.

2. I put together a list of 15 items before York hoping I'd find 4-5 things I wanted. I found and bought 10 items this afternoon and at prices less than I anticipated. For long time collectors I get that finding something you want is harder, but for a newbie, this is the place to be!

Only item I couldn't find was either of the Polar Railroad caboose - 6-36674 or 6-27656 (I-12). Can't seem to find these anywhere although I have seen the I-12 recently on ebay for about $50 more than the MSRP that never sells.  Not really interested in helping someone create a false market value. Soon enough, something will pop up.

Thumbs up to York.
