Good Day,
What Caboose would you buy if there was a 2nd production run? For me, I'd like a 2nd production run on the MTH KCS Bay Window Caboose!
Regards,
Swafford

If Bobbye Hall had made in O scale brass all of the ones she made in HO (she made a few O scale ones, including the T&P side door, and a couple of Santa Fe drover cabooses) I, who have converted her Hallmark cabooses to 3 rail, would be hunting down every one. Three rail manufacturers really have shown little imagination in cabooses, probably because they were so individualistic to a railroad. Now, you'd never expect the Pennsy N5C to be lettered for anything different but the time of operation and the division of the Pennsy. And of course, that is the only way they are found.......har de har!
Equally iconic as its wagon-top bay-window cabooses - and far more common - were the B & O's I-5 wooden, cupola cabooses with their unique window shades. Yet as far as I can tell, only relatively-expensive brass models have been made available in 3-rail O.
Lionel and MTH have both produced a lot of B & O steam and transition-era locomotives and rolling stock. Yet neither they nor Atlas have produced an affordable plastic model of the I-5 that should accompany their recent production. (Lionel did a nice job with the steel, wagon-top bay window caboose a few years ago.)
Technically, I'm not asking here for a re-run, but for a 1st-Run!!
Bill
I've really got all the cabooses I need but if Lionel did another run of B&O I-12s, Chessie, B&O (Red - already got the blue version), I'd likely grab one.
I wish I had bought the Gold plated Lionel 100th Anniversary Caboose. If it
ever comes back I doubt I could afford it this time.
PRR N5 (not c) are pretty much non-existent. That is a caboose I would want to buy if it were made. I guess there is a Williams Crown version, but hard to find.
I would like Atlas O to make their cabooses with LED lighting inside the caboose, so there is no chance of melting the sides with hot light bulbs.
What I would like the folks at Atlas O to do is produce the Detroit & Toledo ShoreLine Extended-Vision Caboose at the same time as a Detroit & Toledo ShoreLine GP7 Diesel-electric Locomotive.
Thank You
Andrew
I can't think of a second run I'd want, but I'd sure like to see a first run of a Green Bay & Western bay window caboose. Both Atlas and MTH have made GBW diesels, and Weaver did a very short custom run of a 2-8-0, but nobody has done a caboose in 0 3 rail as far as I know.
several years ago, Weaver offered several brass N&W cabeese. I have one. Given the opportunity, I'd sure like to be able to get the others.

Would love to see the KCS Lionel or a new MTH version...very tough to find any KCS rolling stock or diesel engines in this paint scheme.
I wish I had gotten one or two of the Weaver brass Milwaukee bay window cabooses.
The MTH Premier MOPAC steel caboose. These things are impossible to find and when they do show up on "America's favorite on line auction" they bring $125-175.
Not sure why the 6-27634 War Bonnet Extended Vision Caboose is now selling for over $200 but I would sell the one I have and get 2 of the lower priced ones.
K-Line SP Railroad Police. I have a white one, but I don't think they did a brown one, I've actually seen the brown prototype.
As for the others, I have enough cabooses for now.
I'd rather see some new stuff than rehashes. Something along the lines of this Seaboard cab:
This was a MTH UP CA-1 cab, modified with new ends (no windows) and window shades on the sides. Even got some Atlas caboose trucks under it to make it look right.
Fact is, I'd just rather see them re-directing their efforts towards the things that haven't been made.
How about a Indiana RR in scale by Atlas, Lionel or Weaver
How about a Pennsy N5? I can't believe no one (other than brass) has made one of these yet!

Jim,
I'm pretty sure Jerry at Hobbyland (Bloomington IL) has a Lionel one of these in stock. Not sure which number if you already have one.
I personally would like to see MTH make another one of these.....:"
I think it would look great anchoring my 4-12-2.
The Atlas O Master Series Detroit & Toledo Shore Line Extended-Vision Caboose was made in such low numbers or it was cancelled because I can not find any of them anywhere, and the supposed matching O Scale Detroit & Toledo Shore Line GP7 diesel locomotive did not get cataloged. In HO Scale and N Scale Atlas RR co. made the DT&S GP7 and E-V Cabooses at the same time and apparently in much larger volumes. The timing of everything was off in O scale. There are new DT&S 6-Bay Cylindrical Hoppers coming in HO Scale and O scale from Atlas. They still are making items in this railroad.

Just joined the group. Would love to have a KCS Bay Window exactly as pictured by Swafford. Any info?
Thanks.
Chessie, Atlas did make that purple caboose, It is one of very few items I really regret selling.
Paul
Paul you know what year they made that caboose. I went to Atlas site look back as far i could never seen anything. I found alot in HO scale and i didn't start in O scale til 2002.

I think that the starter of this topic, Swafford, thought that there might be a better chance of seeing his favorite caboose if the manufacturer doesn't have to spend a ton of money on new dies, therefore the suggestion of using an existing design but with new paint jobs, new road names, additional details, minor modifications. And I agree; there are a ton of very nice designs out there which could be resurrected and produced again.
My requests would include a wooden Milwaukee Road caboose with a cupola, something like the old K-Line, smoking caboose design. The other suggestion would be for a C&NW bay window caboose in RED not in the late model yellow and green. Mark me down for three of those, provided, of course that you do them with different road numbers. Come to think of it, a C&NW wooden caboose would be a nice addition, too.
